11. (Re-)shaping regional economies : Regional innovation system dynamics and new industrial path development
Sammanfattning : This dissertation explores the complexities of regional economic restructuring. It casts a light on how regional environments are ‘reconfigured’ in relation to the transformation of existing regional industries and the development of new ones. LÄS MER
12. Fishing the gene pool : Genetic structure, admixture and behavioural complexity in fisheries management
Sammanfattning : Prudent management of marine fish resources relies on separation and management of biologically meaningful groups of conspecifics, termed fishery stocks, often depicted as self-sustaining, spatiotemporally separated and demographically independent entities. Such stock discrimination has however proven challenging. LÄS MER
13. Faraway, so Close! : The Changing Geographies of Regional Innovation
Sammanfattning : Innovation, the act and outcome of making something novel, is unevenly distributed across the geographical landscape. This uneven distribution has a profound impact on the differential success of regional economies. LÄS MER
14. Diel vertical migration in marine dinoflagellates
Sammanfattning : Increasing precipitation and surface water temperature due to global change may strengthen stratification in coastal regions, which could influence the behavior of dinoflagellate diel vertical migration (DVM). DVM is a behavioral mechanism by which dinoflagellates can access photosynthetically active radiation near the surface, and nutrients at depth. LÄS MER
15. The hidden landscape : on fine-scale green structure and its role regulating ecosystem services in the urban environment
Sammanfattning : The thesis investigates and highlights the role of fine scale green structure in the urban landscape with regards to the regulating ecosystem services of runoff mitigation, wind speed regulation and modification to mean radiant temperatures. The analysis was based on case studies in southern Sweden, projecting from a flooding incident in the Höjeå river catchment in 2007 and the current seafront development of Lomma Harbour and similar schemes in the Öresund region.
