  1. 1. Fisheries Management under Individual Transferable Quota : Outcomes for Ecology and Equity

    Författare :Maartje Oostdijk; Brynhildur Davidsdóttir; Gunnar Stefansson; Ingrid Stjernquist; Mary Wisz; Henrik Österblom; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; NATURVETENSKAP; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Fisheries management; Individual transferable quota; common pool resources; naturgeografi; Physical Geography;

    Sammanfattning : The management of marine resources pose a difficult commons problem as monitoring behavior is difficult and benefit flows from the resources are uncertain. Implementing individual transferable quota (ITQ) is a management regime in which quasi-property rights are assigned for an often mobile and uncertain environmental resource, fish or marine invertebrates. 2. 2. Small-Scale Fisheries Governance : Broadening Perspectives on Markets, Relationships and Benefits in Seafood Trade

    Författare :Elizabeth Drury O'Neill; Beatrice Crona; Maricela de la Torre Castro; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Sustainability; Social-Ecological System; Value chain approach; Social realm; Gender Roles; Local attributes; Marine ecosystem; vetenskap om hållbar utveckling; Sustainability Science;

    Sammanfattning : This licentiate adresses the relative ambiguity surounding benefit flows from small-scale fisheries seafood trade with a specific focus on how they may be impacted by market and social stuctures. Small-scale fishery governenace has previously taken a narrowly approach to sustainability. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Brazilian land use policies and the development of ecosystem services

    Författare :Flavio L. M. Freitas; Ulla Mörtberg; Gerd Sparovek; Martin Persson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; NATURVETENSKAP; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; NATURAL SCIENCES; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Brazil; Land use policy; Forest protection; Ecosystem services; Biodiversity; Offsetting of legal reserves; Mark- och vattenteknik; Land and Water Resources Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Concerns related to global environmental changes due to land use changes have been driving international communities towards more sustainable land use systems. Brazil is a country of global strategic importance in this matter considering that it is the nation with the largest extension of preserved tropical native vegetation, recognised for its ecosystem services and high and unique biodiversity. 4. 4. Local variation in bending stiffness in structural timber of Norway spruce : for the purpose of strength grading

    Författare :Min Hu; Marie Johansson; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; digital image correlation; fibre angle; high resolution; laser scanning; local stiffness; MOE profile; mode shape curvature; strain field; strength grading; structural timber; tracheid effect; Digital image correlation; fibervinkel; laserskanning; lokal styvhet; MOE-profil; töjningsfält; hållfasthetssortering; konstruktionsvirke; trakeideffekt; Forestry and Wood Technology; Skog och träteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Most strength grading machines on the European market use an averagemodulus of elasticity (MOE), estimated on a relatively large distance along awood member, as the indicating property (IP) to bending strength. Theaccuracy of such grading machines in terms of coefficient of determination israther low at R2 ≈ 0.5. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Participation and Planning in the Management of Coastal Resource Conflicts: Case Studies in West Swedish Municipalities

    Författare :Andrea Morf; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; SOCIAL SCIENCES; planning; participation; natural resource management; coastal management; conflict management; Bohuslän; Sweden;

    Sammanfattning : There is a growing concern about sustainable management of natural resources in coasal areas, which is expressed in a worldwide debate about integrated coastal management. Physical or territorial planning as a comprehensive approach to territorial management with routine procedures for public participation seems well suited to achieve integration across any administrative sectors, to support local stakeholder participation, and to enhance conflict management in coastal areas.
