16. Non-invasive imaging for improved cardiovascular diagnostics : Shear wave elastography, relative pressure estimation, and tomographic reconstruction
Sammanfattning : Throughout the last century, medical imaging has come to revolutionise the way we diagnose disease, and is today an indispensable part of virtually any clinical practice. In cardiovascular care imaging is extensively utilised, and the development of novel techniques promises refined diagnostic abilities: ultrasound elastography allows for constitutive tissue assessment, 4D flow magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) enables full-field flow mapping, and micro-Computed Tomography (CT) permits high-resolution imaging at pre-clinical level. 17. The clinical value of total isovolumic time
Sammanfattning : The objective of this thesis is to evaluate the use of Doppler echocardiography markers ofglobal dyssynchrony [total isovolumic time (t-IVT)] in the following 6 studies: 1) Its prognostic role in predicting cardiac events in patients undergoing CABG surgery, compared with conventional global systolic and diastolic measurements. 2) Its additional value in predicting six minute walk test (6-MWT) in patients with leftventricular (LV) ejection fraction (EF) . 18. Sulfur Capture and Oxidation of Calcium Sulfide in PFBC
Sammanfattning : Sorbents such as limestone are successfully used for removal of SO2 during pressurized fluidized bed combustion (PFBC) processes. However, there still remains a strong incentive to reduce the consumption of such sorbents. LÄS MER
19. Blood pressure, blood pressure development and potential risk factors for hypertension with special reference to metabolic factors and kidney function
Sammanfattning : Objectives: The overall aim of this thesis was to search for predictors of blood pressure development with special reference to anthropometric, metabolic and renal function variables.Study populations and methods: Two large long-term prospective population studies, The Population Study of Women in Gothenburg, Sweden carried out since 1968-69, with 1462 women between 38 and 60 years old at baseline and 24 year follow-up, and The Reykjavik Study, Iceland, which started in 1967 with an initial participation of 8285 men and 9183 women in various age groups. 20. Behovsstyrd ventilation i lokalbyggnader-Innebörd och strömningstekniska konsekvenser
Sammanfattning : In todays society energy efficiency and energy savings are becoming increasingly important. The building sector represents a major part of Swedens total use of energy. Furthermore, ventilation constitutes the single largest factor in the energy balance of buildings. LÄS MER
