26. Variable surface molecules of the plasmodium falciparum infected erythrocyte and merozoite
Sammanfattning : As Plasmodium falciparum parasites matures within the infected erythrocyte (IE) it produces a number of various proteins, which are transported out to the cell surface where they are exposed to the host immune system. To avoid recognition and elimination by the liver and spleen these proteins can undergo antigenic variation, a phenomenon where the parasites switch from expressing one variant to' another, both belonging to the same gene-family. 27. Computational Aspects of Maass Waveforms
Sammanfattning : The topic of this thesis is computation of Mass waveforms, and we consider a number of different cases: Congruence subgroups of the modular group and Dirichlet characters (chapter 1); congruence subgroups and general multiplier systems and real weight (chapter 2); and noncongruence subgroups (chapter 3). In each case we first discuss the necessary theoretical background. LÄS MER
28. Some applications of representation theory in homogeneous dynamics and automorphic functions
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of an introduction and five papers in the general area of dynamics and functions on homogeneous spaces. A common feature is that representation theory plays a key role in all articles. LÄS MER

30. Molecular Characterization of Male Breast Cancer
Sammanfattning : Cancer is today a major healthcare problem worldwide. There are many forms of cancer, which is a genetic disease, believed to result from a multistep process with genetic and epigenetic changes accumulating over time. Breast cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in women, while it is much more rare in men. LÄS MER
