1. Hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction and nitric oxide
Sammanfattning : Hypoxia causes pulmonary vasoconstriction (HPV), improving oxygenation by redistribution of the pulmonary blood flow to better oxygenated lung regions. HPV is intrinsic to the pulmonary vascular smooth muscle cell, but can be modulated by several vasoactive substances, as for example endothelium derived nitric oxide (NO) and endothelin-1 (ET-1). 2. Stakeholder-based Brand Equity (SBBE) : A qualitative study of its development through firm-stakeholder interactions in emerging markets
Sammanfattning : This thesis challenges the prevailing firm-consumer/customer-centric and dyadic perspective that prevails within the brand equity literature, which is based on a linear, straightforward stimulus-response approach to the creation of brand value. Leaning on the literature on interorganisational relationships, stakeholder theory, market emergence/market driving, and firm internationalisation, which stresses the interdependency of diverse external stakeholders and the firm, this study develops a broader, multi-stakeholder perspective. 3. Studies on skin blood flow and evaporative water loss : a bioengineering approach
Sammanfattning : Skin blood flow (SBF), temperature, evaporative water loss (EWL) and skin conductance (SC) measured during stimulus-response experiments reveal valuable information regarding the skin's regulatory capacity. SBF and EWL play powerful roles in keeping the human body within an adequate temperature range. LÄS MER
4. Towards On-line Learning Agents for Autonomous Navigation
Sammanfattning : The design of a mechatronic agent capable of navigating autonomously in a changing and perhaps previously unfamiliar environment is a very challenging issue. This thesis addresses this issue from both functional and system perspectives. LÄS MER
5. Selective wavelength pupillometry to evaluate outer and inner retinal photoreception
Sammanfattning : PurposeIntrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells (ipRGCs) express a unique photopigment called melanopsin. Capable of direct phototransduction, the ipRGCs are also influenced by rods and cones via synaptic inputs. LÄS MER
