1. Tibial shaft fractures : An epidemiological and clinical study
Sammanfattning : The epidemiological features of tibial shaft fractures were studied in Uppsala during two 5-year periods. The incidence decreased in men below 20 years of age in the late 1980's compared with the early 1970's (mostly due to a reduction of fractures sustained in traffic accidents), while the incidence increased in women over 80. 2. On the treatment of tibial shaft fractures
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to evaluate those factors, which have predictive value for development of complications after tibial shaft fractures, and to evaluate the outcome of the available treatment methods for closed, as well as open tibial shaft fractures associated with extensive soft-tissue injury. To determine the factors, which influence healing speed, we reviewed 100 consecutive patients with 104 tibial shaft fractures tibial shaft fractures. LÄS MER
3. Humeral shaft fractures : epidemiology outcome
Sammanfattning : Humeral shaft fractures account for 1-3% of all fractures and approximately 20% of all humeral fractures. Non-operative treatment with functional bracing has been regarded as the golden standard for treatment of closed humeral shaft fractures with studies reporting a high overall healing rate and an acceptable functional outcome. 5. External Fixation of Femoral Fractures in Children : Clinical, radiological and functional outcome and cost analysis
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to evaluate the outcome when treating children for displaced femoral fractures with external fixation. In a consecutive and prospective study during the period 1993-2000, 96 children aged 3-15 years with 98 displaced femoral fractures were treated with external fixation and early mobilisation. The mean age was 8. LÄS MER
