  1. 6. Unobtrusive Augmentation  of Physical Environments : Interaction Techniques, Spatial Displays and Ubiquitous Sensing

    Författare :Alex Olwal; Steven Feiner; Lennart Johnsson; Yngve Sundblad; Mark Billinghurst; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computer science; Datalogi;

    Sammanfattning : The fundamental idea of Augmented Reality (AR) is to improve and enhance our perception of the surroundings, through the use of sensing, computing and display systems that make it possible to augment the physical environment with virtual computer graphics. AR is, however, often associated with user-worn equipment, whose current complexity and lack of comfort limit its applicability in many scenarios. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Structuring empirical knowledge on environmental issues : urban heavy metal metabolism

    Författare :Johan Hedbrant; Ulrik Lohm; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Föroreningsfrågor; metodik; tungmetaller; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN;

    Sammanfattning : During the last century, there has been a large import of heavy metals to urban areas. Only a small fraction, about 10%, has reached the biosphere, the rest is still residing in various goods such as cables, construction materials, technical equipment and batteries, which are still in use or abandoned in infrastructure, buildings, households, enterprises and vehicles. 3. 8. Visual Inertial Navigation and Calibration

    Författare :Martin A. Skoglund; Fredrik Gustafsson; Thomas Schön; Henk Luinge; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : Processing and interpretation of visual content is essential to many systems and applications. This requires knowledge of how the content is sensed and also what is sensed. Such knowledge is captured in models which, depending on the application, can be very advanced or simple. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Turning Privilege Into Merit : Elite Schooling, Identity, and the Reproduction of Meritocratic Belief

    Författare :Max Persson; Stina Bergman Blix; Maria Törnqvist; Sam Friedman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; elites; elite schooling; identity; ideology; meritocracy; meritocratic belief; justification; privilege; inequality; exclusion; inclusion; belonging; non-belonging; school segregation; socialization; reproduction; frame analysis; identity frames; meritocratic frame; privilege frame; ethnography; Sweden; Sociologi; Sociology;

    Sammanfattning : Previous research on meritocratic ideology and elite adolescent identity has mainly approached it from the outside, understanding meritocratic identity as a rhetorical cover to justify privilege. Through a frame analytic approach this study nurtures a phenomenological insider perspective, exploring through a one-year ethnography how adolescents at an elite high school experience, negotiate and perform identity in the tension between the school’s institutional definition of identity and their everyday life as young adults. 5. 10. Modeling Quantum Cascade Lasers : The Challenge of Infra-Red Devices

    Författare :Martin Franckie; Matematisk fysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quantum Cascade Lasers; Non-equilibrium Green s functions; Modeling; semiconductor heterostructures; Quantum Cascade Lasers; Non-equilibrium Green s functions; THz radiation; infrared radiation; semiconductor heterostructures; Modeling Simulation Technology; Fysicumarkivet A:2016:Franckié;

    Sammanfattning : We live in a time of rapid scientific and technological advancement. People liv- ing 100 years ago could never dream of inventions like those having completely changed our way of life, and our perception of the world; computers, mobile phones, the Internet, space travel, unraveling the mysteries of the early universe and distant galaxies, and our insight into the microscopic world of quantum phe- nomena.
