21. Design and synthesis of xyloglucan oligosaccharides : structure-function studies and application of xyloglucan endotransglycosylase PttXET16A
Sammanfattning : Primary cell walls are a composite of cellulose microfibrilsand hemicelluloses. Xyloglucan is the principal hemicelluloseof primary cell walls of dicotyledons. Xyloglucanendotransglycosylases (XETs) cleave and religate xyloglucanpolymers in plant cell walls. LÄS MER
22. Xyloglucan-active enzymes : properties, structures and applications
23. Structural Studies of a Xyloglucan Endotransglycosylase from Populus tremula x tremuloides and Three Conserved Hypothetical Proteins from Mycobacterium tuberculosis
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the structural studies of four different proteins from two organisms. Xyloglucan endotransglycosylases, XETs, are involved in plant cell wall expansion and remodeling by splitting and reconnecting xyloglucan-cellulose crosslinks. The first crystal structure of a XET enzyme has been determined to 1.8 Å. LÄS MER
24. Molecular Regulation of Bud Phenology and Vegetative Phase Change in Populus Trees
Sammanfattning : Trees are sessile organisms that have evolved to survive and thrive in changing growth conditions. As a survival strategy they undergo massive morphological changes that can be quantified. LÄS MER
25. Ethylene and Auxin in the Control of Wood Formation
Sammanfattning : This thesis considers aspects of the regulation of growth rate and fibre properties in forest trees. These properties are both genetically determined and influenced by environmental stimuli. Induction of reaction wood is an environmentally induced process involving changes in growth rate and fibre properties that can be readily studied. LÄS MER
