11. Hyaluronan Derivatives and Injectable Gels for Tissue Engineering
Sammanfattning : The present work describes the preparation of hyaluronan derivatives and hydrogels with potential use in tissue engineering applications. A potentially injectable hydrogel consisting of hyaluronan and collagen was successfully used to grow neurons in vitro by encapsulation of neural stem and progenitor cells. LÄS MER
12. Material Properties of Cereal Protein Films
Sammanfattning : Materials that are renewable and biodegradable are demanded due to environmental aspects. Biopolymeric materials, such as materials from prolamins, fulfil both of these requirements. Prolamins are cereal storage proteins. Examples of such are zein, gluten, kafirin and avenin from maize, wheat, sorghum and oats, respectively. LÄS MER
13. Advanced Functional Materials for Intermediate-Temperature Ceramic Fuel Cells
Sammanfattning : Low to intermediate-temperature solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC, 500 oC-700 oC) based on doped ceria (DCO) electrolyte has attracted much attention during the last decade. However, DCO suffers from electronic conduction caused byreduction of Ce (IV) to Ce (III) at high temperatures and low oxygen partial pressures and has a high grain-boundary resistivity. LÄS MER
14. Nanocellulose-based materials: from colloidal assembly to functional films
Sammanfattning : The assembly of nature-based nanomaterials into complex architectures is both a design principle of biological composites, e.g., wood and nacre with outstanding properties and a promising route for developing functional macroscopic materials. LÄS MER
15. Liquid metal microscale deposition for soft and stretchable skin-like electronics : Providing a soft and gentle contact to living beings
Sammanfattning : Skin-like electronics could provide a soft and gentle contact with living beings for perceiving and delivering the information of pressure, strain, temperature with higher spatial resolution and sensitivity than our skin, without disturbing the user. Gallium-based liquid metal (LM) is an excellent material for soft and stretchable skin-like devices, since it has high electrical and thermal conductivity, flowability, and self-healable capability.
