6. Role of the Blood-Brain Barrier in Stereoselective Distribution and Delay in H1 Receptor Occupancy of Cetirizine in the Guinea Pig Brain
Sammanfattning : Cetirizine, an H1-antihistamine, is prescribed for allergic disorders. It exists as a racemic mixture, with levocetirizine being the active enantiomer. The central nervous system side-effects of H1-antihistamines are caused by their penetration into the brain. LÄS MER
7. Lighting Control Systems for Energy Saving and User Acceptance: State-of-the-art and future directions
Sammanfattning : Lighting accounts for one-fifth of global electricity use. In Sweden, energy demand for lighting corresponds to 20% of the total electricity use in office buildings. Lighting retrofit measures are considered to be among the most cost-efficient way to reduce energy use in buildings. LÄS MER
8. Rarity in boreal stream: patterns, causes and consequences
Sammanfattning : Patterns of site occupancy among boreal stream insects were studied in central Sweden with focus on sparsely distributed species and the role of dispersal and niche limitations. In the study of dispersal limitation, I found that effects of an extraordinarily harsh winter in small to medium-sized streams were strongest in sites located in small streams and far from lake outlets. 9. Lighting Control Systems to Save Energy in the non-Residential Sector : State-of-the-art, Field Studies, and Simulations
Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the energy-saving potential for lighting when using traditional indoor LCSs in non-residential buildings. In the study, an overarching theoretical framework is used that distinguishes between energy efficiency and energy saving, as well as between energy use for lighting and functional illumination. 10. Closing the loop : The use of post occupancy evaluations in real-estate management
Sammanfattning : The real-estate sector has traditionally been thinking in terms of “bricks and mortar” focusing more on the buildings than on the tenants. A change of approach has, however, been detected since the mid 1990s. The tenant is now more in focus. LÄS MER
