  1. 1. On linear graph invariants related to Ramsey and edge numbers : or how I learned to stop worrying and love the alien invasion

    Författare :Oliver Krüger; Jörgen Backelin; Alexander Engström; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Ramsey number; edge number; minimal Ramsey graph; independence number; clique number; Turán s theorem; crochet pattern; H13-pattern; linear graph invariant; triangle-free graph; Mathematics; matematik;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis we study the Ramsey numbers, R(l,k), the edge numbers, e(l,k;n) and graphs that are related to these. The edge number e(l,k;n) may be defined as the least natural number m for which all graphs on n vertices and less than m edges either contains a complete subgraph of size l or an independent set of size k. Sammanfattning : This study investigates variable noun phrase number agreement (VNA) in two second language varieties of Portuguese, spoken in Maputo, Mozambique and in Mindelo, Cape Verde. Quantitative VARBRUL analysis is carried out based on recordings made in Maputo and Mindelo 2007 and 2008. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Children’s early mathematics learning and development have become a topic of increasing interest over the past decade since early mathematical knowledge and skills have been shown to be a strong predictor of later mathematics performance. Understanding how children develop mathematical knowledge and skills and how they can be supported in their early learning could thus prove to be a vital component in promoting learning of more formal mathematics. 5. 5. Gender and its interaction with number and evaluative morphology : An intra- and intergenealogical typological survey of Africa

    Författare :Francesca Di Garbo; Maria Koptjevskaja Tamm; Ljuba Veselinova; Vladimir Plungian; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Gender; number; evaluative morphology; interaction; grammatical complexity; Africa; Linguistics; lingvistik;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation investigates interactions between gender and number and gender and evaluative morphology in a sample of 100 African languages, and provides a method for assessing the role that these interactions play in the grammatical complexity of gender systems. The dissertation is organised around three research foci. LÄS MER
