Sammanfattning : It is a well-known fact that the placement of object clitic pronouns in spoken Brazilian Portuguese deviates from the rules given in prescriptive grammars of the Portuguese language, and that these grammars mainly reflect the realities of the European variety of Portuguese. What is less well known is to what extent the use of written, and, in particular, literary Brazilian Portuguese is in accordance with prescriptive grammar. LÄS MER
4. Manufacturing Multilingualisms of Marginality in Mozambique : Exploring the Orders of Visibility of Local African Languages
Sammanfattning : Colonial era language policies and practices in Mozambique sought to render native African languages (and their speakers) invisible in public space. This ‘order of (in)visibility’ was later adopted by many African states, including Mozambique, by choosing the ex-colonial language as the one and only official language and prohibiting or ignoring the use of African languages in the interest of so-called national unity. 5. Discursos fronteiri�os de jovens mo�ambicanos : A linguagem, as ideologias e as subjetividades na colonialidade contempor�nea
Sammanfattning : Why are we talking about coloniality in postcolonial times? And what does language have to do with it? In addressing these two broad questions, this thesis sets out to provide empirically well-grounded reflections focusing: First, on how young Mozambicans’ linguistic repertoires and discursive practices relate to their sense of being in the world. And second, on how their perceptions resonate with recent sociolinguistic debates about the different roles language and ideologies play in constructing and reproducing conditions of contemporary coloniality.
