1. Studies of safety and critical work situations in nuclear power plants : a human factors perspective
Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis was to develop and apply different approaches for analyzing safety in critical work situations in real work settings in nuclear power plants, and also to identify safety enhancing measures by using the framework of interaction between human, organizational and technical subsystems (MTO, man-technology-organization). A Cognitive Psychology as well as a Stress Psychology framework was used. LÄS MER
2. Effective Spatial Mapping for Coupled Code Analysis of Thermal–Hydraulics/Neutron–Kinetics of Boiling Water Reactors
Sammanfattning : Analyses of nuclear reactor safety have increasingly required coupling of full three dimensional neutron kinetics (NK) core models with system transient thermal–hydraulics (TH) codes. In order to produce results within a reasonable computing time, the coupled codes use two different spatial description of the reactor core. LÄS MER
3. Influence of Nuclear Structure on Decay Properties of Heavy Nuclei
Sammanfattning : This dissertation deals with the effects of nuclear structure on the α-decay properties, and on the fission-yielddistributions from the decay of heavy nuclei. The nuclear-structure and decay properties of superheavynuclei is one of the central topics for investigation. LÄS MER
4. Studies of Cherenkov light production in irradiated nuclear fuel assemblies
Sammanfattning : The Digital Cherenkov Viewing Device (DCVD) is an instrument used by authority inspectors to assess irradiated nuclear fuel assemblies in wet storage for the purpose of nuclear safeguards. Originally developed to verify the presence of fuel assemblies with long cooling times and low burnup, the DCVD accuracy is sufficient for partial defect verification, where one verifies that part of an assembly has not been diverted. 5. Atomic Electrons as Sensitive Probes of Nuclear Properties and Astrophysical Plasma Environments : A Computational Approach
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the relativistic modeling of atoms and ions. To interpret the stellar spectra and gain more insight from astrophysical observations, the underlying processes that generate the spectra need to be well understood and described. LÄS MER
