  1. 1. Kinin System Activation in Vasculitis

    Författare :Robin Kahn; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; kinin receptors; inflammation; vasculitis; proteinase 3; neutophils; anti-neutrophil-cytoplasmic antibodies; Kinin;

    Sammanfattning : The kinin system is activated when high-molecular-weight kininogen (HK) is cleaved by plasma kallikrein thus generating bradykinin. Bradykinin is a potent proinflammatory peptide that induces plasma leakage, blood pressure drop, liberation of inflammatory cytokines and pain. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Studies on the Epidemiology and Outcome of Primary Systemic Vasculitis

    Författare :Aladdin Mohammad; Njurmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; polyarteritis nodosa; survival; microscopic polyangiitis; arteritis; vasculitis damage index; Vasculitis; ANCA; Wegener s granulomatosis; Churg-Strauss syndrome;

    Sammanfattning : Primary Systemic Vasculitides [PSV: Wegener's granulomatosis (WG), microscopic polyangiitis (MPA), Churg-Strauss syndrome (CSS) and polyarteritis nodosa (PAN)] are rare systemic diseases of unknown etiology; if untreated, they are associated with high morbidity and mortality rates. Changes in the classification and diagnostic improvements during the last decades have increased reported prevalence and incidence rates of PSV. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The Balance between Pro- and Antiinflammatory Molecules in ANCA-Associated Vasculitis

    Författare :Sophie Ohlsson; Njurmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nephrology; Urologi; nefrologi; Urology; monocyte; SLPI; proteinase 3; ANCA; vasculitis; inflammation;

    Sammanfattning : ANCA-associated systemic vasculitis (AASV) is a group of inflammatory disorders, characterized by inflammation and necrosis of blood vessels and frequently granuloma formation. Patients with AASV make autoantibodies, so called ANCA, against proteins present in the granules of neutrophils and monocytes, mainly proteinase 3 (PR3) and myeloperoxidase (MPO). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Diagnostic and prognostic aspects of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies in systemic vasculitis

    Författare :Daina Selga; Njurmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi; serology; epitope; Wegener s granulomatosis; microscopic polyangiitis; polyarteritis nodosa; capture ELISA; Immunology; anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody; proteinase 3; vasculitis; nephrology; Urologi; nefrologi; Urology;

    Sammanfattning : Primary systemic vasculitis is associated with a high mortality if left untreated and it is essential to make the diagnosis before permanent organ damage has occurred. In this thesis the diagnostic and prognostic significance of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA) in systemic vasculitis is investigated. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Leg ulcer management in primary care with special reference to pinch grafting

    Författare :Rut Öien; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; rheumatology locomotion; Skelett; muskelsystem; reumatologi; General practice; medical training; Allmän medicinsk utövning; medicinsk utbildning; muscle system; Skeleton; diameter product; grid tracing; digital planimetry; ulcer size; pain relief; vasculitis; rheumatoid arthritis; cost analysis; healing rate; pinch grafting; aetiology; prevalence; Leg ulcer; primary care;

    Sammanfattning : Wound management in primary and community care was investigated throughout a period of 12 years within a well-defined population in one county in Southern Sweden. The estimated prevalence of chronic leg and foot ulcers was 0.19% in 1998 and the mean prevalence was 0.20% during the years 1994-1998. LÄS MER
