1. Adsorption of nonionic amphiphiles to solid surfaces
Sammanfattning : In this study, the adsorption of nonionic amphiphiles from aqueous solutions to solid, planar surfaces is investigated using null ellipsometry. This technique allows independent measurements of the amounts adsorbed at the surface and of the mean optical thickness of the adsorbed layer. LÄS MER
2. Adsorption at the Solid-Liquid Interface: An Atomic Force Microscopy Study
Sammanfattning : The aim of the work presented in this thesis was to investigate nature of adsorption of amphiphiles to the solid–liquid interface. The surface aggregate structures of the zwitterionic surfactant dodecyldimethylammoniopropanesulfonate, (DDAPS) and a series of nonionic polyoxyethlylene glycol alkyl ethers (C10E5, C12E5, C12E8, C10E6, C14E6 and C16E6) have been determined by Atomic Force Microscopy on solids of different hydrophobicity. 3. Development of new nanomaterials syntheses for mesostructured TiO2 and SiO2
Sammanfattning : Mesostructured materials is a class of materials within the concept nanomaterials andcharacterized by structural features on the length scale 2-50 nm. This group of materials isinteresting for several applications such as, membrane and separation technology, heterogeneouscatalysis, controlled release, adsorption of pollutants, solar energy conversion, electrode materialsetc. LÄS MER
4. Association of Amphiphiles and Polyelectrolytes with DNA
Sammanfattning : DNA- cationic amphiphile and DNA-cationic polymer systems were studied with respect to the intermolecular interactions, as well as structure and stability of formed complexes. The thesis is divided in two parts: one section is a summary and the other section contains five papers. LÄS MER
5. Molecular associations and transport properties of amphiphiles and gastrointestinal mucin in aqueous solution
Sammanfattning : An effective uptake/absorption of drug formulations involve many processes; one being the transport of the active molecule through the mucus layer. The mucus layer is a complex mixture of biological molecules. Among them, mucin is the molecule that mainly provides the gel properties of the layer. LÄS MER
