21. Computed Tomography of Acetabular Cup Wear and Effect of Surface Roughness on Wear and Oxidation of UHMWPE Hip Prostheses
Sammanfattning : Aseptic loosening is the most common complication in total hip replacement (5- 10% at 10 years follow up). The magnitude of the problem is illustrated by the fact that about one million hip prostheses are implanted worldwide each year. LÄS MER
22. Counting molecules in cell-free DNA and single cells RNA
Sammanfattning : The field of Molecular Biology got started in earnest with the discovery of the molecular structure of DNA. This lead to a surge of interest into the relationships between DNA, RNA and proteins, and to the development of fundamental tools for manipulating those substances, such as cutting, ligating, amplifying, visualizing and size-selecting DNA. 23. Measurements in Idiopathic Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus : Computerized neuropsychological test battery and intracranial pulse waves
Sammanfattning : Idiopathic Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (INPH) is a condition affecting gait, cognition and continence. Radiological examination reveals enlarged ventricles of the brain. A shunt that drains CSF from the ventricles to the abdomen often improves the symptoms. LÄS MER
24. Consequences of amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling for prenatal diagnosis
Sammanfattning : Amniocentesis (AC) and chorionic villus sampling (CVS) are the principal methods for fetal karyotyping. The aim of this thesis was to evaluate psychological reactions and risks associated with the procedures.A semi-randomised study was made on 321 women, where AC (147) and CVS (174) at 10-13 weeks’ gestation were done trans-abdominally. 25. Sleep disordered breathing and hemodynamic function
Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses the association between sleep disordered breathing (SDB) and hemodynamic function. A cross sectional study in a sleep laboratory cohort (n=1190) demonstrated a dose-response relationship between the severity of SDB, expressed as respiratory disturbance index (RDI), and office blood pressure, heart rate, and the risk of hypertension.
