16. Using Low Energy Light to Enable High Energy Photochemistry
Sammanfattning : Manipulating light to meet human needs is pivotal in various research fields and technological applications, ranging from solar energy conversion to photodynamic therapy and fluorescence imaging of cells and tissues. This thesis addresses the spectral mismatches between available light and the specific energy requirements of target photochemical reactions by employing low-energy light to control high-energy photochemistry. 17. Computational Analysis of Molecular Recognition Involving the Ribosome and a Voltage Gated K+ Channel
Sammanfattning : Over the last few decades, computer simulation techniques have been established as an essential tool for understanding biochemical processes. This thesis deals mainly with the application of free energy calculations to ribosomal complexes and a cardiac ion channel. LÄS MER
18. On Reinforcement Learning and Digital Twins for Intelligent Automation
Sammanfattning : Current trends, such as the fourth industrial revolution and sustainable manufacturing, enable and necessitate manufacturing automation to become more intelligent to meet ever new design requirements in terms of flexibility, speed, quality, and cost. Two distinct research streams towards intelligent manufacturing exist in the scientific literature: the model-based digital twin approach and the data-driven learning approach. LÄS MER
19. Fundamental Investigations of Supercritical Fluid Chromatography
Sammanfattning : This thesis aims at a deeper understanding of Supercritical FluidChromatography (SFC). Although preparative SFC has started to replace Liquid Chromatography (LC) in the pharmaceutical industry - because of its advantages in speed and its less environmental impact - fundamental understanding is still lacking. 20. Floating-Point Analog-to-Digital Converter
Sammanfattning : To deal with the wide dynamic rage necessary for a radio receiver or corresponding applications, but to avoid impractically high resolution at high data rates, the approach of using a floating-point analog-to-digital converter (FP-ADC) has been investigated. This approach de-links the dynamic range with the resolution, and a very wide dynamic range can be achieved by an ADC with a moderate resolution. LÄS MER
