  1. 11. Biokinetics and radiation dosimetry of 14C-labelled triolein, urea, glycocholic acid and xylose in man. Studies related to nuclear medicine “breath tests” using accelerator mass spectrometry

    Författare :Mikael Gunnarsson; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical physics; radiology; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; xylose.; glycocholic acid; urea; triolein; Dosimetry; Biokinetic; AMS; Accelerator mass spectrometry; 14C; Breath test;

    Sammanfattning : 14C-labelled substances have been used in biomedical research and clinical medicine for over 50 years. Physicians and scientists however, often hesitate to use these substances in patients and volunteers because the radiation dosimetry is unclear. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Radiotherapy Gel Dosimetry: Development and Application of Normoxic Polymer Gels

    Författare :Helen Gustafsson; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical physics; radiology; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; Radiofarmaceutisk teknik; Radiopharmaceutical technology; proton; LET; FT Raman spectroscopy; MRI; normoxic gel; IMRT; 3D verification; polymer gel dosimetry; radiologi;

    Sammanfattning : In many radiotherapy applications, true three-dimensional dosimetry with good spatial resolution that can be achieved in a single measurement would be of great value. Polymer gel dosimetry fulfils many of the demands on such a system. In this study, methods to facilitate the implementation of gel dosimetry have been investigated. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Ensuring the intended volume is given the intended absorbed dose in radiotherapy: Managing geometric variations and treatment hazards

    Författare :Ola Holmberg; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; medical instrumentation; tomography; radiology; Clinical physics; safety; risk; hazard; organ motion; set-up; margins; volume definition; radiotherapy; accuracy; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; Radiopharmaceutical technology; Radiofarmaceutisk teknik;

    Sammanfattning : Methods for ensuring that the intended volume receives the intended absorbed dose in radiotherapy have been investigated. In order to optimise radiation treatment of cancer, geometric variations in the treatment chain need to be controlled. Furthermore, hazards potentially leading to unintended irradiation need to be controlled. LÄS MER

  4. 14. MRI evaluation and image processing in gel dosimetry. A study of selected MRI properties and image processing in 3D gel dosimetry

    Författare :Peter Magnusson; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Klinisk fysiologi; medical instrumentation; tomography; radiology; Clinical physics; image registering; multi-slice; slice profile; ferrous sulphate; polyacrylamide; 3D volume acquisition; RF field; B1 field; relaxation time; T1; T2; spin-echo; multi-spin-echo; stochastic noise; nonuniformity; SNR; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; Radiopharmaceutical technology; Radiofarmaceutisk teknik; Physics; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Gel dosimetry is a new dosimetry method applied in radiation therapy. Gel dosimeters consist of a radiation sensitive gel, which can integrate absorbed doses from several radiation sources or beams. The dose to the gel can be evaluated by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), a procedure that is the focus of the present thesis. LÄS MER

  5. 15. The Role of Projected Anatomy, Random Noise, and Spatial Resolution on Clinical Image Quality in Digital Mammography

    Författare :Mark Ruschin; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; 3D breast imaging; Clinical physics; radiology; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; hybrid images; dose reduction; spatial resolution; pixel size; Breast cancer; digital mammography; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; breast tomosynthesis;

    Sammanfattning : Due to the recent advances in digital detector technology, there is an increasing trend in the use of digital mammography (DM) as a concurrent modality with screen-film mammography (SFM). In order to fully realize its potential, the components of a DM system should be optimized with respect to clinical image quality in order for clinicians to make accurate diagnoses. LÄS MER
