    Sammanfattning : Throughout history, major rivers and shared water bodies have allowed civilizations to flourish, and the effective management of shared water bodies has always been a priority for societies and nations. Today, about 40% of the world’s population lives in proximity to the 286 transboundary river and lake basins that supply 60% of the world’s freshwater flows and make up about half of the Earth’s land area. 2. 22. On the stability and control of piecewise-smooth dynamical systems with impacts and friction

    Författare :Fredrik Svahn; Annika Stensson Trigell; Harry Dankowicz; Jenny Jerrelind; Lawrie Virgin; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; non-smooth dynamics; nonlinear control; low-velocity impacts; friction; bifurcations; Solid mechanics; Fastkroppsmekanik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the analysis of dynamical systems suitable to be modelled by piecewise-smooth differential equations. In such systems the continuous-in-time dynamics is interrupted by discrete-in-time jumps in the state or governing equations of motion. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Recovery actions in freight transport through real-time disruption management

    Författare :Per Wide; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; freight transport; transport system; operational planning; proactive recovery actions; Disruption management; real-time information;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the management of disruption in freight transport. The management of disruption is of importance to achieve planned efficiency in the transport system by mitigating or avoiding the impacts of disruptions, such as late arrivals of deliveries. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Real-time information for disruption management in intermodal freight transport

    Författare :Per Wide; Sweden Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the recovery phase after operational disruptions in intermodal freight transport, which is a vital aspect of mitigating impacts such as late deliveries and thus achieving high operational efficiency. Intermodal freight transport is influenced by the ongoing development of information and communication technologies. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Adaptive Logistics - Using Complexity Theory to Facilitate Increased Effectiveness in Logistics

    Författare :Fredrik Nilsson; Förpackningslogistik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; complexity thinking ; epistemology; logistics; logistics systems ; paradigm; Teknik; Technological sciences; complexity theory ;

    Sammanfattning : Logistics is gaining increased attention in companies since interconnectivity is increasing, and the interdependence among actors is enhanced due to challenges organizations are facing today (market changes, novel strategies, and technological improvements). While the logistics discipline has been characterized by an efficiency focus based on positivistic assumptions, the challenges of today require a focus on effectiveness i. LÄS MER
