  1. 11. Meso-Mechanical Modeling of Thin Adhesive Layers

    Författare :Kent Salomonsson; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; adhesive layer; meso-mechanical; FEM; RVE; SEM; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik; Technology; Teknik;

    Sammanfattning : A thin adhesive layer is analyzed using a representative volume element (RVE). The RVE is comprised by, both continuum and interfacial finite elements. The interface elements allow for crack initiation and crack propagation. To obtain realistic results from the RVE simulation, an in situ scanning electron microscopy (SEM) study is performed. 2. 12. On the Design of Functionally Integrated Aero-engine Structures: Modeling and Evaluation Methods for Architecture and Complexity

    Författare :Visakha Raja; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Product Architecture; Aero-engine Structures; Configurable Components; Load Paths; Design Product Complexity; Functionally Integrated Product Architecture; Product Development; Structural Complexity; Function–Means Modeling;

    Sammanfattning : The drive for airplanes with radically reduced fuel consumption and emissions motivates engine manufacturers to explore innovative engine designs. The novelty of such engines results in changed operating conditions, such as newly introduced constraints, increased loads or rearranged interfaces. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Increasing awareness of sustainable building materials has led to interest in enhancing the structural performance of engineered wood products. Wood is a sustainable, renewable material, and the increasing use of wood in construction contributes to its sustainability. LÄS MER

  4. 14. On Contact Mechanisms and Mechanical Transmission Performance

    Författare :Lars Maclennan; Maskinelement; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; vacuum technology; vibration and acoustic engineering; Maskinteknik; hydraulik; vakuumteknik; vibrationer; akustik; hydraulics; Mechanical engineering; artificial neural network; experimental study; disc brake; dynamic analysis; shaft; Spur gear;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of four papers, which treat the modelling of a spur gear set and a disc brake, and the interaction between the machine elements. Features of the performance are studied in relation to the initial stated assumptions. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Modelling Alternative Load Paths in Platform-Framed CLT Buildings : A Finite Element Approach

    Författare :Johannes Albert Josef Huber; Mats Ekevad; Ulf Arne Girhammar; Sven Berg; Sigurdur Ormarsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; timber; robustness; finite element method; alternative load paths; disproportionate collapse; Träteknik; Wood Science and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Timber has become more popular as a construction material during recent years. Engineered wood products, such as glued laminated timber and cross-laminated timber, have enabled the construction of multi-storey buildings. Tall buildings with many occupants need to resist a disproportional collapse in case of unexpected exposures, e.g. LÄS MER
