  1. 6. Localization of lipoprotein lipase in mouse pancreas, kidney and placenta : impact of metabolic disturbances on cellular distribution and activity regulation

    Författare :Rakel Nyrén; Gunilla Olivecrona; Paolo Parini; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Lipoprotein lipase; pancreas; kidney; placenta; angiopoietin-like protein 4; high-fat diet; obesity; mice; PET CT; nutritional status; triglyceride; GPIHBP1; medicinsk och fysiologisk kemi; Medical and Physiological Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) is the key enzyme for metabolism of triglycerides in plasma lipoproteins. In recent years many new facts about the enzyme and its regulation have been uncovered. The endothelial membrane protein GPIHBP1 translocates LPL through endothelial cells and holds the enzyme in place at the luminal side of the capillary endothelium. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Lipoprotein lipase activity is reduced in dialysis patients. Studies on possible causal factors

    Författare :Dana Mahmood; Bernd Stegmayr; Gunilla Olivecrona; Per Ola Attman; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Haemodialysis; lipoprotein lipase; ANGPTL3; ANGPTL4; citrate dialysate; dialyzer.; medicin; Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular disease is a major cause of mortality and morbidity in patients on chronic haemodialysis (HD). One main contributing factor is renal dyslipidaemia, characterized by an impaired catabolism of triglyceride (TG)-rich lipoproteins with accumulation of atherogenic remnant particles. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Lipoprotein lipase in hemodialysis patients and healthy controls : effects of heparin

    Författare :Birgit Näsström; Per-Ola Attman; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :dalteparin; dialysis; lipoprotein metabolism; LMWH; LPL; triglycerides; UFH; uremia; medicinsk och fysiologisk kemi; Medical and Physiological Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Mortality from cardiovascular disease in patients on chronic hemodialysis (HD) is 10 to 20 times greater than in the general population. One major risk factor is renal dyslipidemia, characterised by an impaired catabolism of triglyceride (TG)-rich lipoproteins with accumulation of atherogenic remnant particles. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Endogenous and exogenous factors affecting lipoprotein lipase activity

    Författare :Mikael Larsson; Gunilla Olivecrona; Aivar Lookene; Ira Tabas; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; LPL; APOC1; APOC2; APOC3; ANGPTL4; enzyme inactivation; lipoprotein metabolism; triglycerides; fatty acids; hypertriglyceridemia; CVD; small molecule screening; structure-activity relationship; cardiovascular disease; hjärt- och kärlforskning;

    Sammanfattning : Individuals with high levels of plasma triglycerides are at high risk to develop cardiovascular disease (CVD), currently one of the major causes of death worldwide. Recent epidemiological studies show that loss-of-function mutations in the APOC3 gene lower plasma triglyceride levels and reduce the incidence of coronary artery disease. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Aspects on lipoprotein lipase and atherosclerosis

    Författare :Lucyna Neuger; Philip Barter; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical physiology; Klinisk fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) hydrolyses blood lipids at the vascular endothelium. This action makes fatty acids available for tissue metabolic requirements. LPL is anchored to the endothelium by electrostatic forces and may act as a bridge connecting lipoproteins to cell surfaces. LÄS MER
