41. An inductive approach to the modeling of lake water quality in dimictic, glacial/boreal lakes
Sammanfattning : To explore the interaction between elements of the watershed and lake water quality, a database large enough to approximate the generic population of dimictic, glacial/boreal lakes is assembled and analyzed with multivariate statistical methods in an inductive top-down approach. Utilizing the analytical capabilities of geographical information systems, the spatially distributed characteristics of land cover, soil and bedrock elements are identified and parameterized with respect to element morphology and hydrology. 42. Study and Modeling of the Reduction of Sulfur Dioxide, Nitrogen Oxides and Hydrogen Chloride by Dry Injection Technologies
Sammanfattning : The potential and mechanism to reduce acid gases, such as SO2, NOx and HCl by dry Ca-based sorbents have been studied to improve the efficiencies of the process and sorbent utilization. Several natural limestones were tested for SO2 removal. Calcium conversion as high as 45% was achieved within 0.3 s at 1000°C, 1000 ppm SO2 and Ca/S=1. LÄS MER
43. CO2 Capture using Chemical-Looping Combustion – Operational Experience with Gaseous and Solid Fuels
Sammanfattning : CO2 capture and storage has been proposed as an alternative to mitigate global warming. Chemical-looping combustion (CLC) is an unmixed combustion concept where fuel and combustion air are kept separate by means of an oxygen carrier, and the CO2 capture is inherently achieved. LÄS MER
44. Sustainable management of the Salalah coastal aquifer in Oman using an integrated approach
Sammanfattning : Most of the coastal areas around the globe depend on coastal aquifers vulnerable to salt water intrusion. The Salalah plain in southern Oman is underlain by a shallow limestone aquifer extending north up to the foot of the Jabal AlQara which reach a height of about 1000 m. LÄS MER
45. Fine particulate by-products from mineral and metallurgical industries as filler in cement-based materials
Sammanfattning : The mineral and metallurgical industries produces large amounts of by- products, these materials may be used as filler in concrete. However, before they can be used as filler in concrete their effect on concrete properties, such as strength, cement hydration and rheology has to be evaluated. LÄS MER
