  1. 6. Quantum effects in nanoscale Josephson junction circuits

    Författare :Silvia Corlevi; David B. Haviland; Jukka Pekola; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Josephson junctions; Josephson junction arrays; electromagnetic environment; Cooper pair transistor; parity effects; Physics; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the results of an experimental study on single-charge effects in nanoscale Josephson junctions and Cooper pair transistors (CPTs). In nanoscale Josephson junctions the charging energy EC becomes significant at sub-Kelvin temperatures and single-charge effects, such as the Coulomb blockade of Cooper pair tunneling, influence the transport properties. 2. 7. Nonlinear dynamics of Josephson Junction Chains and Superconducting Resonators

    Författare :Adem Ergül; David B. Haviland; Per Delsing; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Superconductivity; Josephson Junction; SQUID; Superconducting Resonators;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the results of the experimental studies on two kindof Superconducting circuits: one-dimensional Josephson junction chains andsuperconducting coplanar waveguide (CPW) resonators. One-dimensionalJosephson junction chains are constructed by connecting many Superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) in series. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Reconstruction in the gastroesophageal junction- from routine to advanced

    Författare :Pauline Djerf; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Gastroesophageal junction; Antireflux surgery; Esophagectomy; Gastric tube; Epiphrenic diverticula.;

    Sammanfattning : The general aim of the thesis was to contribute to a more evidenced based framework in the surgical treatment of diseases in the gastroesophageal junction (GEJ), by comparing outcome, measured by complication and survival rates, and evaluate different reconstructions regarding long-term symptoms and quality of life (QoL). The GEJ is a poorly defined anatomic area that represents the lower part of the esophagus and its’ junction to the proximal stomach. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Transmission of waves through elastic and viscoelastic junctions

    Författare :Tomas Nygren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; Wave; elastic; viscoelastic; extensional; characteristic impedance; junction; transmission; reflection; dissipation; optimisation; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Solid Mechanics; hållfasthetslära;

    Sammanfattning : Transmission of extensional waves through elastic and viscoelastic junctions between elastic and collinear bars have been studied theoretically and experimentally. The models used can be interpreted also for other types of waves (e.g. dilatational waves, shear waves, electromagnetic waves) and systems. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis concerns flanking transmission in light weight, wooden multi-storey buildings within the low frequency, primarily 20-120 Hz. The overall aim is to investigate how the finite element method can contribute in the design phase to evaluate different junctions regarding flanking transmission. LÄS MER
