21. A Gap in the Grid : Attempts to introduce natural gas in Sweden 1967-1991
Sammanfattning : This thesis follows the process of introducing natural gas in Sweden and the construction of a Northern European gas grid from 1967 to 1991. Natural gas is a relatively unnoticed fuel in Sweden today, but this relative anonymity stands in contrast to an extensive historical activity that has taken place behind the scenes of Swedish energy policy. 22. Organising the Early Design Phase in a Large Infrastructure Project
Sammanfattning : Large physical infrastructure projects are complex, lengthy endeavours usually initiated on a political level and managed by public clients. Many important decisions are made in early design phases, when the knowledge of numerous technical specialists is integrated to balance cost, quality and scope over the whole project lifecycle. 23. Regional Economics, Trade, and Transport Infrastructure
Sammanfattning : “Regional Policy in a Multiregional Setting: When the Poorest are Hurt by Subsidies” Regional subsidies have a positive short-term effect on the recipient regions, but as they alter migration patterns the long-term effects are less clear. This paper demonstrates using a three-region general equilibrium model that subsidising the poorest region may be to its detriment in the long term and thereby increase inter-regional inequality, if the subsidy draws firms from a nearby region that would function better as a production centre. 25. Railway Infrastructure Robustness : Attributes, evaluation, assurance and improvement
Sammanfattning : According to the European program Horizon 2020, multifaceted challenges in transportinfrastructure include 1) making infrastructure more resilient to keep pace with the increasing mobility needs; 2) reducing the impact of infrastructure on the environment;and 3) dealing with declining resources to maintain and upgrade transport infrastructure. New design and maintenance approaches must be developed to handle these issues, ascurrent methods are inadequate. LÄS MER
