    Sammanfattning : “Regional Policy in a Multiregional Setting: When the Poorest are Hurt by Subsidies” Regional subsidies have a positive short-term effect on the recipient regions, but as they alter migration patterns the long-term effects are less clear. This paper demonstrates using a three-region general equilibrium model that subsidising the poorest region may be to its detriment in the long term and thereby increase inter-regional inequality, if the subsidy draws firms from a nearby region that would function better as a production centre. 3. 3. Holocene carbon and nitrogen accumulation rates and contemporary carbon export in discharge : a study from a boreal fen catchment

    Författare :Anna Larsson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The contemporary role of mires in land-atmosphere exchange of carbon dioxide (CO₂) is the subject of intense scientific debate. Investigating patterns and mechanisms of variations in past carbon (C) accumulation rates as well as contemporary C fluxes of peatlands facilitates predictions of future mire C sink strength under a changing climate. 4. 4. Climate Change Impacts on the Catchment Contribution to Lake Water Quantity and Quality

    Författare :Karen Moore; Kurt Pettersson; Donald Pierson; Timothy Kratz; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Climate change; water quality modelling; Lake Mälaren; GWLF; nutrient transport;

    Sammanfattning : A key question related to climate change projections is how will aquatic systems respond to changes in variables such as temperature and precipitation? This thesis uses GWLF, a simple catchment scale model to explore potential impacts of climate change on water quantity and quality.River discharge and nutrient loads were modelled for several warmer world scenarios. 5. 5. Climate Effects on Phytoplankton Biomass and Functional Groups

    Författare :Hampus Markensten; Donald Pierson; Kurt Pettersson; Bengt Boström; Colin Reynolds; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ecology; Climate change; phytoplankton; chlorophyll a; Lake Mälaren; Galten; PROTBAS; numerical modeling; water quality; succession; shallow lake; Ekologi; Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; Terrestisk; limnisk och marin ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Future climate in temperate regions is projected to get warmer and in many cases wetter. This poses questions about how phytoplankton in our lakes will respond. LÄS MER
