6. Studies on Molecular Genetics of B cell Development
Sammanfattning : The development of immature progenitor cells into highly differentiated effector cells is a process central in modern medicine with applications in the fields of cell therapy as well as oncology. This thesis is focused on the molecular mechanisms that control the development of B lymphocytes. LÄS MER
7. The evolutionary study of the immunoglobulin heavy chain genes of a bony fish, rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

8. The immunoglobulin genes in an Actinopterygian fish, the Siberian sturgeon (Acipenser baeri)
Sammanfattning : Characterization of the immunoglobulin (Ig) light (L) and heavy (H) chain genes from the Siberiansturgeon, Acipenser baeri, revealed an Ig structure simhar to the IgM elass of mammals. The serumforms of the sturgeon Ig are tetrameric and dimeric. LÄS MER
9. Detection of immunoglobulin heavy chain gene rearrangement with PCR for MRD analysis in lymphoproliferative disorders
Sammanfattning : Immunoglobulin heavy chain (IGH) gene rearrangement occurs during early B-lymphocyte differentiation, assembling the different IGH gene segments to a functional gene, which can serve as a marker for study of lineage association and detection of Minimal Residual Disease (MRD) in clonal diseases deriving from B-lymphocytes or their early differentiation stages. Use of a molecular marker for the leukemic cells could help improve treatment by monitoring therapeutic efficacy, predicting relapse, and identifying very small amounts of tumour cells contaminating autografts after purging or enrichment of stem cells. 10. Gene regulation by Early B-cell Factor (EBF)
Sammanfattning : In this study we aimed at defining genes that are controlled by Early B-cell Factor (EBF), that could explain the severe block in B-cell development observed in EBF-/- mice. The fact that EBF appears to be important for the transcriptional control of genes encoding proteins in the pre-B and B-cell receptor complex implied to us that EBF could be a common regulator of other components in the pre-B and B-cell receptor.
