2. Natural specific T cell immunity in patients with B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (B-CLL) : (A clinical and immunological study)
Sammanfattning : Analysis of TCRBV (T-cell receptor B variable) gene usage of the T cell repertoire in patients with B cell chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (B-CLL) and age-matched healthy control donors showed that major perturbations were more frequently seen in the CD4+ T cell subset than in CD8 population. Analysis of the CDR3 length polymorphism revealed a significantly higher degree of clonality within the CD4+ and CD8+ T cell repertoire of patients as compared to the normal control population. 3. Immunoglobulin Gene Analysis in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia : Characterization of New Prognostic and Biological Subsets
Sammanfattning : Recent studies have shown that the somatic mutation status of the immunoglobulin (Ig) VH genes can divide chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) into two prognostic subsets, since cases with mutated VH genes display superior survival compared to unmutated cases. Biased VH gene usage has also been reported in CLL which may reflect antigen selection. LÄS MER
4. Telomere analysis of normal and neoplastic hematopoietic cells : studies focusing on fluorescence in situ hybridization and flow cytometry
Sammanfattning : The telomeres are specialized structures at the end of the chromosomes composed of the repeated DNA sequence (TTAGGG)n and specific proteins bound to the DNA. The telomeres protect the chromosomes from degradation and end to end fusions. LÄS MER
5. Molecular and cellular mechanisms in the development of IDDM in non-obese diabetic mice
Sammanfattning : Insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) is a disease caused by autoimmune destruction of the insulin producing b cells in the pancreas. The leukocytic infiltration into the b cell islets preceding disease is called insulitis. LÄS MER
