  1. 1. On direct hydrogen fuel cell vehicles : modelling and demonstration

    Författare :Kristina Haraldsson; Per Alvfors; Dougal J. Nelson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical engineering; direct hydrogen; Proton Exchange Membrane; PEM; fuel cell; fuel cell vehicle; fuel cell hybrid vehicles; on-board hydrogen storage; Kemiteknik; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, direct hydrogen Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell systems in vehicles are investigated through modelling, field tests and public acceptance surveys. A computer model of a 50 kW PEM fuel cell system was developed. The fuel cell system efficiency is approximately 50% between 10 and 45% of the rated power. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Life cycle navigation through future energy carriers and propulsion options for the energy transition in shipping

    Författare :Fayas Malik Kanchiralla; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; environmental impact; life cycle costing; battery electric; fuel cells; electro-fuel; technical feasibility; economic impact; hydrogen; life cycle assessment; carbon capture; marine fuel; engines; ammonia; carbon abatement cost; shipping; methanol;

    Sammanfattning : The shipping industry's heavy reliance on fossil fuels has a detrimental effect on the global climate, human health, and the natural environment. The shipping sector now relies on the use of cheap and energy-dense heavy fuel oil and is perceived as ‘difficult-to-decarbonize’. LÄS MER

    Författare :Isak Jonsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; intermediate compressor duct; IR-thermography; laminar-turbulent transition; aerothermal; turbine rear structure; heat transfer; hydrogen propulsion; experimental; uncertainty analysis; Clean Sky 2 Joint Undertaking European Union EU Horizon 2020 CS2-RIA EATEEM 82139; multi-hole probe;

    Sammanfattning : In commercial aviation, efficiency improvements may be gained by aerodynamic optimisation of its structural components, such as the intermediate compressor duct (ICD) and the turbine rear structure (TRS). These components have frequently been overlooked in favour of compressor and turbine module optimisation. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Conceptual design and investigation of hydrogen-fueled regional freighter aircraft

    Författare :Kolja Seeckt; Arthur Rizzi; Petter Krus; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Vehicle engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the conceptual design and comparison of five versions of regional freighter aircraft based on the ATR 72. The versions comprise four baseline designs differing in their propulsion systems (jet/turboprop) and the fuel they use (kerosene/hydrogen). LÄS MER

  5. 5. Electrochemical properties of alternative polymer electrolytes in fuel cells

    Författare :Annika Carlson; Rakel Lindström; Göran Lindbergh; Carina Lagergren; Mohamed Mamlouk; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fuel cell; anion exchange membrane; proton exchange membrane; electrode morphology; hydrogen oxidation reaction; water transport; poly phenylene oxide ; cellulose; bränslecell; anjonledande membran; protonledande membran; elektrodstruktur; vätgasoxidation; vattentransport; poly fenylenoxid ; cellulosa; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Fuel cells, using hydrogen as energy carrier, allow chemically‑stored energy to be utilized for many applications, including balancing the electrical grid and the propulsion of vehicles. To make the fuel cell technology more accessible and promote a sustainable energy society, this thesis focuses on alternative polymer electrolytes, as they can potentially lead to a lower cost and a more environmentally‑friendly fuel cell.
