  1. 21. Development and Application of Molecular Modeling Methods for Structure-Based Drug Discovery

    Författare :Axel Rudling; Jens Carlsson; Phillip Biggin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry towards Bioinformatics; biokemi med inriktning mot bioinformatik;

    Sammanfattning : Molecular modeling is increasingly being integrated into the drug discovery process. Although computational methods are already an essential part of the process today, these techniques have vast potential to evolve and refine drug design in the future. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Regulation of Renal Hyaluronan in Water Handling : Studies in vivo and in vitro

    Författare :Sara Stridh; Peter Hansell; Mats Rundgren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kidney; water balance; fluid handling; diabetes; nephropathy; ACE fetopathy; reabsorption; hyaluronic acid; glycosaminoglycan; GAG; extracellular matrix; mTOR; rapamycin; streptozotocin;

    Sammanfattning : Hyaluronan (HA) is a negatively charged extracellular matrix (ECM) component with water-attracting properties. It is the dominating ECM component in the renal medullary interstitium, where the amount changes in relation to hydration status: it increases during hydration and decreases during dehydration. 3. 23. A Quantitative Thermogravimetric Study on the Nonevaporable Water in Mature Silica Fume Concrete: Influence of Carbonation and Moisture Conditions

    Författare :Elisabeth Helsing Atlassi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; moisture; carbonation; cement composites; cement; thermogravimetric method;

    Sammanfattning : The primary goal of the project presented here was to study and quantify the influence of materials parameters (cement type, silica fume content, w/c ratio, type and dose of superplasticizers) and environmental parameters (carbonation and moisture history) on the nonevaporable water in hydrated cement composites. In order to achieve this, a thermogravimetric method which separates different types of nonevaporable water (bound in different hydrates and hydroxide) and carbonation products was developed. 4. 24. Water transport through perinatal skin : Barrier function and aquaporin water channels

    Författare :Johan Ågren; Gunnar Sedin; Gunnar Flemström; Steven B Hoath; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pediatrics; Preterm infant; Transepidermal water loss; Aquaporin; Skin biology; Hyperosmolarity; Pediatrik; Paediatric medicine; Pediatrisk medicin; pediatrik; Pediatrics;

    Sammanfattning : While constituting a well functioning interface with the aqueous environment in utero, the skin offers a poor barrier after very preterm birth. As a result, transepidermal water loss (TEWL) is high, a fact which has important clinical consequences in these infants. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Changes of Ca and Mg silicate minerals induced by grinding and interaction with water

    Författare :Elena Kalinkina; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry of Interfaces; Gränsytors kemi;

    Sammanfattning : FT-IR spectroscopy, powder XRD, 29Si MAS-NMR, 13C CP/1H-decoupling MAS-NMR, BET surface area and CO2-content measurements have been used to study the processes which occur during dry grinding of Ca and Mg silicate minerals: diopside, enstatite, åkermanite, and wollastonite. In the course of grinding alongside to hydration and amorphisation considerable sorption of atmospheric CO2 by ground minerals occur. LÄS MER
