41. Resistance of cold-formed high strength steel sections : Effect of cold-formed angle
Sammanfattning : Cold-formed steel members are increasingly used in industrial and civil construction. Their use allows optimised member cross sections and shapes, thereby reducing the amount of steel used as well as the weight of the structures and, consequently, reducing harmful effects on the environment. 42. Towards a simulation methodology for prediction of airborne wear particles from disc brakes
Sammanfattning : During braking, both the rotor and the pads in disc brakes are worn. Since disc brakes are not sealed, some of the wear particles generated can become airborne. LÄS MER
43. Moisture-induced stress and distortion of wood : A numerical and experimental study of wood's drying and long-term behaviour
Sammanfattning : With the current advances made in three-dimensional modelling of wood, it is possible to provide an overall picture of moisture flow, and moisture-induced stress and deformations, whereas previously, experiments only provided local measurements. The main aim of the doctoral thesis is to investigate the possibilities of the developed three-dimensional numerical model to predict the behaviour of wood when simultaneously exposed to a mechanical load and a particular climate. 44. Resistance of polygonal cross-sections : application on steel towers for wind turbines
Sammanfattning : Wind power is considered an efficient alternative for production of electrical energy. One advantage that wind power offers compared to conventional ways of producing energy such as fossil energy and nuclear energy is the low emission of carbon dioxide “CO2” during production of electrical energy. 45. Electrochemical machining: towards 3D simulation and application on SS316
Sammanfattning : Electrochemical machining (ECM) is a non-conventional manufacturing process, which uses electrochemical dissolution to shape any conductive metal regardless of its mechanical properties and without leaving behind residual stresses or tool wear. Therefore, ECM can be an alternative for machining difficult-to-cut materials, complex geometries, and materials with improved characteristics, such as strength, heat-resistance or corrosion-resistance.
