  1. 6. Essays on Endogenous Trade Policies

    Författare :Susanna Thede; Nationalekonomiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; International commerce; Internationell ekonomi; pecuniary externalities.; industry concentration; imperfect competition; strategic government interaction; maximum likelihood estimation; logit model; Bilateral trade policy; overall protection;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of a collection of essays on endogenous trade policies and may briefly be summarized as follows. The first essay empirically examines determinants of bilateral trade protection originating from normative trade theory, endogenous trade-policy studies, and political arguments put forward in the public debate. 2. 7. Hox transcription factors in hematopoiesis

    Författare :Jon Mar Björnsson; Avdelningen för molekylärmedicin och genterapi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; extracellular fluids; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor; Haematology; hematopoies; tet; Hox; cre lox;

    Sammanfattning : Hematopoiesis is a lifelong, dynamic process in which a small number of pluripotent hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) residing in the bone marrow (BM) give rise to billions of mature blood cells of both myeloid and lymphoid origin each day. This enormous capacity of HSC has been utilized in BM transplantations for 4 decades and is also very important for future gene therapy. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Differential effects of voluntary running on hippocampal plasticity in the adult rat brain

    Författare :Andrew Stuart Naylor; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :exercise; hippocampus; stress; progenitor proliferation; neurogenesis; trophic factors; frontal cortex; spatial memory; rat; pCREB; endogenous opioids;

    Sammanfattning : The continuation of neuronal birth from dividing neural stem cells in the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus throughout adulthood is known to play an important role in maintaining normal hippocampal function, such as memory and learning. Negative alterations in the levels of adult neurogenesis have also been linked to several neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer s disease and mood disorders such as depression. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Transcription factors regulating the Btk promoter

    Författare :Susanne Müller; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Btk; X-linked agammaglobulinemia; transcription factors; repression; synergism; Sp 1; Sp3; PU.l; Spi-B; genetherapy.;

    Sammanfattning : Bruton's agammaglobulinemia tyrosine kinase (Btk) is a cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase-related to the Src family of kinases. Mutations in various parts of the gene have been shown to lead to X-linked agammaglobulinemia, an immunodeficiency disease which is characterized by a defect in B-cell development. LÄS MER

  5. 10. On the etiology and pathogenesis of systemic lupus erythematosus with special reference to environmental factors

    Författare :Anders Bengtsson; Reumatologi och molekylär skelettbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; muscle system; rheumatology locomotion; Skelett; muskelsystem; reumatologi; Skeleton; Risk factors; Human parvovirus B19; Immune complex; Disease activity; Interferon-alpha; SLE; Retrovirus;

    Sammanfattning : Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a complex autoimmune disease in which environmental factors interact with genetic factors in the development of the disease process and evolution of clinical manifestations. In this thesis both exogenous factors and host factors were investigated, as well as important immunopathological aspects including involvement of immune complex (IC), the complement system and interferon-alpha (IFN-α).
