31. Unobtrusive Augmentation of Physical Environments : Interaction Techniques, Spatial Displays and Ubiquitous Sensing
Sammanfattning : The fundamental idea of Augmented Reality (AR) is to improve and enhance our perception of the surroundings, through the use of sensing, computing and display systems that make it possible to augment the physical environment with virtual computer graphics. AR is, however, often associated with user-worn equipment, whose current complexity and lack of comfort limit its applicability in many scenarios. LÄS MER
32. Circling Concepts : A Critical Archaeological Analysis of the Notion of Stone Circles as Sami Offering Sites
Sammanfattning : The thesis discusses a category of cultural heritage that has been labelled "Sami circular offering sites", aiming to establish some basic facts about their origin, distribution and use, as well as their cultural and socio-political context and influence. The stone enclosures in question have been interpreted as Sami offering sites since the mid-19th century, but a discourse analysis of the research history indicates that this may have been based on a scholarly hypothesis rather than ethnographic or archaeological evidence. 33. Habitat use in fish communities : size- and environment-dependent mechanisms affecting biotic interactions and population regulation
Sammanfattning : Through the influence of abiotic factors, the habitat use of organisms affects their metabolism as well as other species- and size-dependent individual-based rates. The habitat-specific performances of individuals interacting in different habitats thereby affect biotic interactions. LÄS MER
34. Boreal mire carbon exchange : sensitivity to climate change and anthropogenic nitrogen and sulfur deposition
Sammanfattning : Boreal peatlands are important long-term sinks of atmospheric carbon and in the same time the largest natural source of methane to the atmosphere. A changing climate as well as deposition of anthropogenically derived pollutants, such as nitrogen and sulfur, has the potential to affect the processes that control the carbon exchange in peatlands. 35. Wave Modelling Techniques for Medium and High Frequency Vibroacoustic Analysis Including Porous Materials
Sammanfattning : Numerical methods based on wave modelling are explored for the vibroacoustic analysis of wave propagation, sound transmission and interior noise in vehicles and buildings at medium and high frequencies. The presence of sound absorbing porous materials in practical engineering structures is also considered. LÄS MER
