11. Exposure of zebrafish to brominated environmental chemicals : studies on reproduction, maternal transfer and early life-stage development
Sammanfattning : Fish reproduction and embryonic development may be sensitive to environmental chemicals. This thesis investigated effects of brominated flame retardants (BFRs) and polybrominated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PBDDs) on reproduction and early life-stage development in zebrafish (Danio rerio). 12. Genetic studies in early embryos with emphasis on preimplantation genetic diagnosis
Sammanfattning : It has been estimated that as much as 70-80% of all human conceptions do not develop to term. A majority of clinically recognisable pregnancies, which are miscarried, contain chromosome abnormalities. However, data from very early embryo development are difficult to obtain. LÄS MER
13. New micromanipulative techniques in reproductive biology
Sammanfattning : New micro manipulative techniques have facilitated development to help patients who suffer from infertility and spontaneous abortion, as well as those who carry severe genetic diseases and have risks of delivering an affected child. Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), which is based on obtaining blastomere biopsy from an eight-cell embryo, has made it possible to diagnose severe defects caused by a genetic factor. LÄS MER
14. The Long and Winding Road : Emotional Reactions during In Vitro Fertilization and Attitudes towards Cryopreserved Embryos and Oocyte Donation
Sammanfattning : The main aims were to investigate emotional reactions during in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment among women and men, attitudes of IVF couples towards cryopreserved embryos and public attitudes towards various aspects of oocyte donation in Sweden. Assessments of emotional, physical and social reactions were made on a daily reaction scale and attitudes on the basis of study-specific questionnaires. LÄS MER
15. Biological Markers of Fertility
Sammanfattning : Infertility affects 15 % of couples, which corresponds to 60 - 80 million worldwide. The microenvironments in which the oocyte, embryo and fetus mature are vital to the establishment and development of a healthy pregnancy. LÄS MER
