    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I have worked with solid-liquid interfaces, adsorbed molecules on the surface, and solvated complexes using Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations to find possible signatures that could help design suitable energy materials. More specifically, I have explored hybrid electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), XPS fingerprints of gas-phase melamine (monomer, dimer, trimer, and hexagonal packed arrangement), hexagonally packed melamine adsorbed on the Au(111) surface, and high-valence Ruthenium complexes along a reaction pathway in aqueous solution through a joint theory-experiment approach. 3. 3. Synthesis and characterization of palladium based carbon nanostructure-composites and their clean-energy application

    Författare :Florian Nitze; Thomas Wågberg; Ludvig Edman; Kordas Krisztian; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carbon nanostructures; chemical vapour deposition; electro catalysts; transmission electron microscopy; direct formic acid fuel cells; Solid State Physics; fasta tillståndets fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Carbon nanostructures are a wide field with many applications. The use of carbon nanostructures as support in heterogeneous catalysis is a key development that led together with the use of nanoparticles to a significant cost reduction of catalysts. Catalysts designed in this way are widely applied in fuel cell technologies. LÄS MER
