31. Molecular Mechanisms in Vascular Endothelin B Receptor Up-Regulation
Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular diseases are characterized by changes in morphology and function of the blood vessels. Different signalling molecules are involved in these changes. Endothelin-1 (ET-1) is one of the most potent signalling molecules found in man. Its actions are mediated by two receptors, the ETA and the ETB receptors. LÄS MER
32. Optimized Pacing Strategies in Cross-Country Skiing and Time-Trial Road Cycling
Sammanfattning : This thesis is devoted to the analysis and optimization of pacing strategies in cross-country skiing and time-trial road cycling. In locomotive sports, it is well known that variable pacing strategies using changes in the distribution of power output are beneficial when external forces vary along the way. LÄS MER
33. Thermal properties of volume Bragg gratings and its implications on lasers
Sammanfattning : This thesis contains the results of research on the spectral control of lasers, specifically, the thermal limitations of volume Bragg gratings (VBGs), employed as laser-cavity end mirrors. The investigations consisted of both experiments and numerical simulations. LÄS MER
34. Unusual vascular responses in the umbilical artery, mediated by endothelin-like receptors
Sammanfattning : In this present study the population of endothelin-like receptors in the human umbilical artery was examined in vitro in different parts of the umbilical cord. Immunohistochemistry revealed ETB receptors in the endothelium and an uneven distribution of ETA receptors in the smooth muscle of the arterial wall, when comparing different parts of the umbilical artery. 35. Optimizing Energy Efficiency in Wireless Links Through Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces and Optimal Ratios
Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the optimization of energy efficiency (EE) in the radiolink of wireless communication systems, focusing on both the user equipment (UE) and the base station (BS). The first part of the study examines strategies to minimize the energy consumption of the UE when transmitting short data payloads, utilizing a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) controlled by the BS, to improve the channel conditions.
