  1. 31. Molecular Mechanisms in Vascular Endothelin B Receptor Up-Regulation

    Författare :Erik Uddman; Lund Medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Cardiovascular system; reverse; in vitro pharmacology; organ culture; Endothelin receptors; up-regulation;

    Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular diseases are characterized by changes in morphology and function of the blood vessels. Different signalling molecules are involved in these changes. Endothelin-1 (ET-1) is one of the most potent signalling molecules found in man. Its actions are mediated by two receptors, the ETA and the ETB receptors. LÄS MER

  2. 32. Optimized Pacing Strategies in Cross-Country Skiing and Time-Trial Road Cycling

    Författare :David Sundström; Mats Tinnsten; Peter Carlsson; John Rasmussen; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Optimization; numerical simulation; equations of motion; MMA; cross-country skiing; cycling; Optimering; numerisk simulering; rörelseekvationer; MMA; längdskidåkning; cykling;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is devoted to the analysis and optimization of pacing strategies in cross-country skiing and time-trial road cycling. In locomotive sports, it is well known that variable pacing strategies using changes in the distribution of power output are beneficial when external forces vary along the way. LÄS MER

  3. 33. Thermal properties of volume Bragg gratings and its implications on lasers

    Författare :Staffan Tjörnhammar; Fredrik Laurell; Valdas Pasiskevicius; Mohamed Bourennane; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Thermal effects; Volume Bragg Gratings; VBG; Lasers;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis contains the results of research on the spectral control of lasers, specifically, the thermal limitations of volume Bragg gratings (VBGs), employed as laser-cavity end mirrors. The investigations consisted of both experiments and numerical simulations. LÄS MER

  4. 34. Unusual vascular responses in the umbilical artery, mediated by endothelin-like receptors

    Författare :Maria Laursen; Urogynekologi och reproduktionsfarmakologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; reproduction; sexuality; Obstetrik; gynekologi; andrologi; sexualitet; andrology; gynaecology; Obstetrics; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; unusual vascular responses; endothelin-like receptors; human umbilical artery; reproduktion;

    Sammanfattning : In this present study the population of endothelin-like receptors in the human umbilical artery was examined in vitro in different parts of the umbilical cord. Immunohistochemistry revealed ETB receptors in the endothelium and an uneven distribution of ETA receptors in the smooth muscle of the arterial wall, when comparing different parts of the umbilical artery. 5. 35. Optimizing Energy Efficiency in Wireless Links Through Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces and Optimal Ratios

    Författare :Anders Enqvist; Emil Björnson; Ozlem Tugfe Demir; Cicek Cavdar; Yuanwei Liu; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; 6G; Energy Efficiency; Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces; 6G; energieffektivitet; rekonfigurerbara intelligenta ytor; Informations- och kommunikationsteknik; Information and Communication Technology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the optimization of energy efficiency (EE) in the radiolink of wireless communication systems, focusing on both the user equipment (UE) and the base station (BS). The first part of the study examines strategies to minimize the energy consumption of the UE when transmitting short data payloads, utilizing a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) controlled by the BS, to improve the channel conditions.
