11. Freden, friköpen och järnplogarna. Drivkrafter och förändringsprocesser under den agrara revolutionen i Halland 1700 - 1900
Sammanfattning : The thesis studies the agricultural revolution in the province Halland in southwestern Sweden. New tools, land reclamation, new cultivation systems, better livestock, enclosures and free holding during the period 1700-1900 are investigated. The source materials consist of estate inventories, land survey documents and present descriptions. LÄS MER
12. Seaweed as a sustainable source of food protein: maximizing seaweed protein content, protein recovery, and nutritional quality
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on utilizing seaweed, such as Saccharina latissima and Ulva fenestrata , as sustainable food protein sources to complement terrestrial protein currently limited by land and water supply. While seaweed holds promise, its protein content is lower than pulses and antinutrients reduce protein nutritional quality. LÄS MER
13. Seaweeds as a future protein source: innovative cultivation methods for protein production
Sammanfattning : As the global population is projected to reach approximately 10 billion people by 2050, it is estimated that we will need to produce up to 60% more food compared to 2010. Although the current food production system contributes to 25% of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide, accounts for 70-80% of eutrophication and freshwater usage, and occupies half of all ice- and desert-free land, it fails to meet the global nutritional needs. 14. Land Use Conflicts between Agriculture and Energy Production : Systems Approaches to Allocate Potentials for Bioenergy and Agrophotovoltaics
Sammanfattning : The developments towards a bio-based economy and a renewable energy-based power supply require thorough assessments of feedstocks and frameworks. In the past, political targets for increasing shares of renewable energies for combatting climate change have triggered direct land use changes (LUCs) and even indirect land use changes (iLUCs). 15. Exploration of microbial diversity and evolution through cultivation independent phylogenomics
Sammanfattning : Our understanding of microbial evolution is largely dependent on available genomic data of diverse organisms. Yet, genome-sequencing efforts have mostly ignored the diverse uncultivable majority in favor of cultivable and sociologically relevant organisms. LÄS MER
