1. Edible and Biodegradable Whey Protein Films as Barriers in Foods and Food Packaging
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the characterization of whey protein films. The films were cast from heated aqueous solutions and dried in a climate room at 23 °C and 50% relative humidity for 16 h. The microstructure of the films was found to be dependent on the protein concentration, the plasticizers, and the pH. LÄS MER
2. Microscopic Dynamics and Structure of some Polymer-based Electrolytes
Sammanfattning : The electrolyte is a key component in high-capacity lithium batteries and there is a large demand for improved materials to increase the performance. Polymer-based electrolytes offer advantages in the design of safer and lighter batteries. LÄS MER
3. Wheat Gluten -Based Materials and Composites: Extrusion, Casting and Antimicrobial Properties
Sammanfattning : The use of bio-based polymers as packaging materials has gained much attention due to increasing environmental concerns regarding non-biodegradable petroleum-derived plastics. Wheat gluten (WG) is a valuable renewable resource for the production of bio-based materials because of its low price, biodegradability, good film-forming properties and good gas barrier properties under dry conditions. 4. Polymer Gels and their Interactions with Ionic Surfactants
Sammanfattning : The response on chemically crosslinked gels and polymer solutions on the addition of ionic surfactants and/or addition of salt at different temperatures have been studied. All polymers studied are water soluble and slightly hydrophobic or hydrophobically modified. LÄS MER
5. Ethyl(hydroxyethyl)cellulose and Some Model Uncharged Polymers: A Calorimetric Study of Their Interaction with Surfactants in Aqueous Solution
Sammanfattning : The interactions between uncharged polymers, e.g. ethyl(hydroxylethyl)cellulose (EHEC) and some model polymers, and ionic surfactants in aqueous solution has been studied by using isothermal titration and differential scanning calorimetry. LÄS MER
