1. Computer Simulations of Polymer Gels : Structure, Dynamics, and Deformation
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the results of computer simulation studies of the structure, dynamics, and deformation of cross-linked polymer gels. Obtaining a fundamental understanding of the interrelation between the detailed structure and the properties of polymer gels is a challenge and a key issue towards designing materials for specific purposes. 2. Advanced polymeric scaffolds for functional materials in biomedical applications
Sammanfattning : Advancements in the biomedical field are driven by the design of novel materials with controlled physical and bio-interactive properties. To develop such materials, researchers rely on the use of highly efficient reactions for the assembly of advanced polymeric scaffolds that meet the demands of a functional biomaterial. LÄS MER
3. Polymer Gels: Modeling the Swelling Behavior
Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with the swelling behavior of polyelectrolyte gels. The thesis can be divided into two parts. Part one deals with the modeling and computer simulation of the gel swelling. LÄS MER
4. Nanocellulose Oxidation - Fundamentals and Application in Hydrogels
Sammanfattning : The adaptable surface chemistry of cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) makes them outstanding; it provides colloidal stability, which is essential for engineering use, to commercially-available CNCs. Colloidal stability is achieved by the bulky negatively-charged sulfate half-ester groups on the surface that it manufactures itself via the use of sulfuric acid. LÄS MER
5. Polymer Gels and their Interactions with Ionic Surfactants
Sammanfattning : The response on chemically crosslinked gels and polymer solutions on the addition of ionic surfactants and/or addition of salt at different temperatures have been studied. All polymers studied are water soluble and slightly hydrophobic or hydrophobically modified. LÄS MER
