31. Simulation of Wheel and Rail Profile Evolution : Wear Modelling and Validation
Sammanfattning : Numerical procedures for reliable wheel and rail wearprediction are rare. Recent development of simulationtechniques and computer power together with tribologicalknowledge do however suggest computer aided wear prediction. LÄS MER
32. Ternary Block Copolymer - Water - "Oil" Systems: Effects of "Oil" Type and Block Size on Phase Behaviour and Structure
Sammanfattning : It has recently been established in our group that amphiphilic block copolymers consisting of a hydrophilic and a hydrophobic part can self-assemble in the presence of selective solvents (“water” and “oil”) into a variety of different solution and lyotropic liquid crystalline microstructures. The effects of the “oil” type, hydrophilic block size and hydrophobic block type on the phase behavior and microstructure of ternary isothermal copolymer - oil - water systems have been addressed in this thesis. 33. Superconductivity in the presence of magnetic steps
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the distribution of superconductivity in a Type-II planar, bounded, and smooth superconductor submitted to a piecewise-constant magnetic field with a jump discontinuity along smooth curves---the magnetic edge. This discontinuous case has not been treated before in the mathematics literature, where the considered applied magnetic field is usually assumed to be smooth. LÄS MER
34. Stability and transition of three-dimensional boundary layers
Sammanfattning : A focus has been put on the stability characteristics of different flow types existing on air vehicles. Flow passing over wings and different junctions on an aircraft face numerous local features, ranging from different pressure gradients, to interacting boundary layers. LÄS MER
35. Multiscale Curvature Detection in Computer Vision
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a new method for detection of complex curvatures such as corners, circles, and star patterns. The method is based on a second degree local polynomial model applied to a local orientation description in double angle representation. LÄS MER
