1. Core Level Spectroscopy of Water and Ice
Sammanfattning : A core level spectroscopy study of ice and water is presented in this thesis. Combining a number of experiments and spectrum calculations based on density functional theory, changes in the local valence electronic structure are shown to be sensitive to the local H-bonding configurations. 2. Ab initio simulations of core level spectra : Towards an atomistic understanding of the dye-sensitized solar cell
Sammanfattning : The main focus of this thesis is ab initio modeling of core level spectra with a high-level quantum chemical description both of the chemical interactions and of local atomic multiplet effects. In particular, the combination of calculations and synchrotron-based core-level spectroscopy aims at understanding the local structure of the electronic valence in transition metal complexes, and the details of the solvation mechanisms of electrolyte solutions, systems relevant for the dye-sensitized solar cell. 3. Multimode resonant X-ray scattering of free molecules
Sammanfattning : This thesis is focused on the role that nuclear dynamics plays in the formation of X-ray absorption (XAS) and resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS) spectra of multimode free molecules. A combined approach based on ab initio electronic structure methods and quantum nuclear wave packet dynamics is applied to two systems -- water and methanol in the gas phase. LÄS MER
4. Coupled electron-nuclear dynamics in inelastic X-ray scattering
Sammanfattning : This Thesis is devoted to theoretical and experimental studies of resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS) of carbon monoxide and water molecules. Using state-of-the-art ab initio electronic structure calculations and a time-dependent wave packet formalism, we make a complete analysis of the experimental RIXS spectra of the two molecular systems. 5. Electronic Structures and Energy Level Alignment in Mesoscopic Solar Cells : A Hard and Soft X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy Study
Sammanfattning : Photoelectron spectroscopy is an experimental method to study the electronic structure in matter. In this thesis, a combination of soft and hard X-ray based photoelectron spectroscopy has been used to obtain atomic level understanding of electronic structures and energy level alignments in mesoscopic solar cells.
