1. Pulse propagation in photonic crystals and nonlinear media
Sammanfattning : The present thesis is devoted to theoretical studies of light pulse propagation through different linear and nonlinear media. One dimensional holographic photonic crystals and one dimensional impurity band based photonic crystals are investigated as linear media. LÄS MER
2. Pulse Propagation in Nonlinear Media and Photonic Crystals
Sammanfattning : The present thesis is devoted to theoretical studies of pulse propagation of light through linear and nonlinear media, and of light-induced nuclear dynamics. The first part of the thesis addresses propagation of light pulses in linear periodical media - photonic crystals. LÄS MER
3. Coupled electron-nuclear dynamics in inelastic X-ray scattering
Sammanfattning : This Thesis is devoted to theoretical and experimental studies of resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS) of carbon monoxide and water molecules. Using state-of-the-art ab initio electronic structure calculations and a time-dependent wave packet formalism, we make a complete analysis of the experimental RIXS spectra of the two molecular systems. LÄS MER
4. Multimode resonant X-ray scattering of free molecules
Sammanfattning : This thesis is focused on the role that nuclear dynamics plays in the formation of X-ray absorption (XAS) and resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS) spectra of multimode free molecules. A combined approach based on ab initio electronic structure methods and quantum nuclear wave packet dynamics is applied to two systems -- water and methanol in the gas phase. LÄS MER
5. Relativistic light-matter interaction
Sammanfattning : In this licentiate thesis light-matter interaction between hydrogen and superintense attosecond pulses is studied. The specific aim here is to identify for what intensities the non-relativistic calculations, given by solving the time dependent Schrödinger equation, no longer are valid. LÄS MER
