  1. 1. Inflation Mechanics of Hyperelastic Membranes

    Författare :Amit Patil; Anders Eriksson; Arne Nordmark; Reijo Kouhia; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Membrane Mechanics; Inflation; Adhesive Contact; Instabilities; Bifurcation; Limit Point; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : The applications of inflatable membrane structures are increasing rapidly in the various fields of engineering and science. The geometric, material, force and contact non-linearities complicate this subject further, which in turn increases the demand for computationally efficient methods and interpretations of counter-intuitive behaviors noted by the  scientific community. 2. 2. On efficient and adaptive modelling of friction damping in bladed disks

    Författare :Mohammad Afzal; Leif Kari; Ines Lopez Arteaga; Muzio M Gola; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; High cycle fatigue; Friction contact; Jacobian matrix; Shroud contact; Strip damper; Multiharmonic balance method; Contact stiffness; Cyclic symmetry; Nodal diameter; Magnetostrictive actuator; Magnetic field; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : This work focuses on efficient modelling and adaptive control of friction damping in bladed disks. To efficiently simulate the friction contact, a full-3D time-discrete contact model is reformulated and an analytical expression for the Jacobian matrix is derived that reduces the computation time drastically with respect to the classical finite difference method. 3. 3. Wheel-rail contact modelling in vehicle dynamics simulation

    Författare :Matin Shahzamanian Sichani; Mats Berg; Roger Enblom; Elena Kabo; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; wheel-rail contact; non-elliptic contact; vehicle-track interaction; rail vehicle dynamics; rolling contact; MBS; virtual penetration; Järnvägsgruppen - Fordonsteknik; Järnvägsgruppen - Fordonsteknik; Järnvägsgruppen - Tribologi; The KTH Railway Group - Tribology;

    Sammanfattning : The wheel-rail contact is at the core of all research related to vehicle-track interaction. This tiny interface governs the dynamic performance of rail vehicles through the loads it transmits and, like any high stress concentration zone, it is subjected to serious damage phenomena. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Flexographic Post-Printing of Corrugated Board : Contact Mechanics and Print Quality

    Författare :Erik Hallberg Hofstrand; Magnus Lestelius; Peter Rättö; Astrid Odeberg Glasenapp; D. Steven Keller; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; Flexography; Corrugated board; Post-printing; Contact mechanics; Print quality; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : As the corrugated board industry strives to produce products with a higher print quality in the converting stage, there is a need for a greater understanding of the factors influencing the final print quality and how we perceive the print. In this work, a method for quantifying the print quality of printed corrugated board is presented as well as methods that quantitatively characterize the mechanical interaction between the printing form and the corrugated board in the printing nip. Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis covers the topic of modeling the three-dimensional fiber net- works with the finite element method. It contains the part addressing the numerical aspects of the modeling, namely, the contact formulation and application of the developed methods to the fundamental questions such as the effect of randomness in fiber properties and effect of fines and hygroexpansion.
