    Sammanfattning : The objectives of the study were (1) to contribute to development of a theoretical basis for teaching violence prevention and conflict resolution, connecting the micro (interpersonal and intergroup) and macro (national, international and transnational) levels; and (2) to contribute to development of teaching methods with the aim of giving children skills in handling conflicts constructively.     Sammanfattning : The present thesis explores intersectional and institutional conditions for counteracting domestic violence in the Swedish welfare state. Empirically, the study focuses on professional discourses and practices concerning fathers’ violence against mothers and children in the context of separation, in three domains of practice: 1) Children’s education; 2) Disputes concerning custody, contact and residence; and 3) Welfare benefits such as financial aid.     Sammanfattning :  The aim of this doctoral thesis is to – from a child perspective and with children as informants – describe and analyze childhood conditions for children whose parents suffer from severe mental illness. The method used is qualitative – 28 children, 10 boys and 18 girls, 7–18 years old, were interviewed about their parents’ mental disorder; the family situation and their own personal life – in school and during free time.
