  1. 11. Dose painting : Can radiotherapy be improved with image driven dose-responses derived from retrospective radiotherapy data?

    Författare :Eric Grönlund; Anders Ahnesjö; Silvia Johansson; Daniela Thorwarth; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiotherapy; functional imaging; dose painting; dose painting by numbers; robust optimization; Medicinsk radiofysik; Medical Radiophysics;

    Sammanfattning : The main aim of curative radiotherapy for cancer is to prescribe and deliver doses that eradicate the tumor and spare the normal healthy tissues. Radiotherapy is commonly performed by delivering a homogeneous radiation dose to the tumor. LÄS MER

  2. 12. The Value of Preoperative MRI in Breast Cancer Treatment

    Författare :Virginia Gonzalez; Staffan Eriksson; Sophia Zackrissson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :preoperative breast MRI; breast cancer; breast-conserving surgery; Surgery; Kirurgi; Oncology; Onkologi; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) remains controversial as an image adjunct in preoperative settings in terms of short-term benefits and there are no survival data from randomized studies. This prospective, randomized, multicentre study included 440 patients (age ≤ 56 y) with breast cancer from three large-volume Swedish breast clinics. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Strategies and maladaptive behaviours in complex dynamic decision making

    Författare :Anders Jansson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Psychology; Dynamic decision making; complex problem solving; mental models; Psykologi; Psychology; Psykologi; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Research on dynamic decision making using so called microworlds has followed two differentapproaches: the German approach of "komplexes Problemlösen" where the central problem has beenseen as that of action control and the dynamic decision making approach, where the central problemhas been seen as that of task control, In this thesis, these approaches are combined in order to seehow people regulate their behaviour so that they can manage to control a complex, opaque anddynamic decision task. The general objective of the thesis is to see how people develop mentalmodels and formulate goals as a function of observability and action possibilities. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Techniques for the increased utilization of dose response variability in proton therapy

    Författare :Erik Almhagen; Anders Ahnesjö; Alexandru Dasu; Nina Tilly; Oliver Jäkel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; RBE; Radiobiology; Proton Therapy; Dose Painting; Head and Neck Cancer; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Particle therapy is a form of radiation therapy in which protons and heavier ions are used, as opposed to photons in conventional radiation therapy. The biological effectiveness of particles compared to photons is often quantified as relative biological effectiveness (RBE). LÄS MER

  5. 15. Operating Room Efficiency and Postoperative Recovery after Major Abdominal Surgery : The Surgical Team’s Efficiency and the Early Postoperative Recovery of Patients with Peritoneal Carcinomatosis

    Författare :Erebouni Arakelian; Haile Mahteme; Lena Gunningberg; Jan Larsson; Karin Norlén; Gun Nordström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; efficiency; operating room; postoperative recovery; peritoneal carcinomatos; cytoreductive surgery; HIPEC;

    Sammanfattning : In selected patients, surgical treatments such as cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) have enabled curative treatment options for previously incurable diseases, such as peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC). The introduction of resource demanding surgery could affect the work process, efficiency, and productivity within a surgical department and factors influencing patient postoperative recovery processes may have an impact on the efficiency of patient care after major surgery.
