  1. 1. HIPECology : Aspects of Postoperative Morbidity Following the HIPEC Procedure

    Författare :Paul Dranichnikov; Peter Cashin; Wilhelm Graf; Martin Rutegård; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CRS; HIPEC; readmission; EPIC; coagulopathy; VTE; goal-directed therapy GDT ; postoperative hemorrhage; oxaliplatin.; Surgery; Kirurgi; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Peritoneal surface malignancy (PM), regardless of the dissemination site, was once considered a terminal condition.  However, the introduction of a surgical approach with cytoreductive surgery (CRS) combined with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) with or without early intraperitoneal chemotherapy (EPIC) shifted the attitude from managing the symptoms of PM to disease treatment with curative intent. 2. 2. Operating Room Efficiency and Postoperative Recovery after Major Abdominal Surgery : The Surgical Team’s Efficiency and the Early Postoperative Recovery of Patients with Peritoneal Carcinomatosis

    Författare :Erebouni Arakelian; Haile Mahteme; Lena Gunningberg; Jan Larsson; Karin Norlén; Gun Nordström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; efficiency; operating room; postoperative recovery; peritoneal carcinomatos; cytoreductive surgery; HIPEC;

    Sammanfattning : In selected patients, surgical treatments such as cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) have enabled curative treatment options for previously incurable diseases, such as peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC). The introduction of resource demanding surgery could affect the work process, efficiency, and productivity within a surgical department and factors influencing patient postoperative recovery processes may have an impact on the efficiency of patient care after major surgery. 3. 3. Clinical and Experimental Studies in Peritoneal Metastases from Gastric Cancer

    Författare :Bo Hultman; Haile Mahteme; Bruno Walther; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; gastric cancer; peritoneal metastases; peritoneal carcinomatosis; epidemiology; prognostic factor; survival; neoadjuvant chemotherapy; cytoreductive surgery; HIPEC; health economy; costs; systemic chemotherapy; cultured tumor cells; fluorometric analysis; cancer drug tests; chemo-sensitivity; anti tumor drugs.; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Gastric cancer (GC) is one of leading causes of death in the world, and peritoneal metastases (PM) are a major site of recurrence. PM from GC implies a poor prognosis, with median overall survival (mOS) approximately 3 months and no survival at five years. LÄS MER

  4. 4. A Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic Rationale for Perioperative Cancer Chemotherapy in Patients with Peritoneal Carcinomatosis

    Författare :Kurt Van der Speeten; Haile Matheme; Paul Sugarbaker; Lars Pahlman; Ingvar Syk; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC) is a common manifestation of both gastrointestinal and gynecologic malignancies. Until recently, this condition was considered beyond curative intent treatment. Since the 1980s, new treatment strategies combining cytoreductive surgery (CRS) with perioperative intraperitoneal and intravenous chemotherapy have emerged. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Colorectal and appendiceal peritoneal metastases : From population studies to genetics

    Författare :Malin Enblad; Helgi Birgisson; Wilhelm Graf; Peter Matthiessen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Peritoneal metastases; Peritoneal carcinomatosis; Pseudomyxoma peritonei; Colorectal cancer; Appendiceal cancer; Cytoreductive surgery; HIPEC; Appendicitis;

    Sammanfattning : Peritoneal dissemination of colorectal and appendiceal origin was previously considered the end-stage of malignant disease. Today, treatment with cytoreductive surgery (CRS) in combination with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) has prolonged survival and cured some patients with peritoneal metastases (PM).
