  1. 6. Characterization of Genetic Abnormalities at Disease Progression of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia

    Författare :Aikaterini Barbouti; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; fluorescent in situ hybridization; low-copy repeats; isochromosome 17q; MSI2 HOXA9; ETV6 ABL1; BCR ABL1; chronic myeloid leukemia; blast crisis; molecular genetics; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik;

    Sammanfattning : Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a myeloproliferative disorder associated with the translocation t(9;22)(q34;q11) and progresses from a relatively indolent chronic phase (CP) to an accelerated phase (AP) and finally to the more aggressive blast crisis (BC). The general aim of this thesis was to identify and characterize genetic abnormalities occurring at disease progression of CML using molecular cytogenetic, molecular genetic, and bioinformatic analyses. 2. 7. Complex Formation in the Extra Cellular Matrix- Structural Study of CTLD of Agrrecan, Tenascin-R and Chondroadherin

    Författare :Anna Pramhed; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aggrecan; ECM; fibulin; structure; tenascin; CHAD; chondroadherin; X-ray; crystallography; calcium; CTLD; C-type lectin; fibronectin; FnIII; LRR; epidermal growth factor; leucine-rich repeat; matrix; EGF; cbEGF;

    Sammanfattning : The cells of higher organisms exist in a complex protein network, the extracellular matrix (ECM), which has a wide variety of different components such as glycoproteins, proteoglycans and carbohydrates. As well as being the physical scaffold on which the cells are dependent for their positioning and mobility, the ECM exercises control over the cells, and changes in the matrix will affect the adhesion, proliferation and differentiation properties of these cells. 3. 8. Repetitive DNA in search of a function - a study of telomeric and centromeric sequences in Chironomus

    Författare :Casimiro Castillejo-Lopez; Udo Häckers grupp Utvecklingsbiologi i invertebrater; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chironomus; CENP-B box; mobile elements; reverse transcriptase; gene conversion; satellite; repetitive DNA; Telomere; centromere; Genetics; cytogenetics; Genetik; cytogenetik;

    Sammanfattning : Repetitive DNA is quantitatively the main component of telomeres and centromeres, structures responsible for maintenance of the eukaryotic chromosome. The telomere is the specialized nucleoprotein complex that terminates linear chromosomes. LÄS MER

  4. 9. There and back again : The neural basis of migration in the Bogong moth

    Författare :Andrea Adden; Funktionell zoologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The Bogong moth (Agrotis infusa) is a small, night-active Australian moth that has a remarkable lifestyle. Afterhatching from its pupa in spring, it migrates over 1000 km to the Australian Alps, where it spends the summer incool alpine caves. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Mining DNA elements involved in targeting of chromatin modifiers

    Författare :Philge Philip; Per Stenberg; Jan Larsson; Stein Aerts; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nucleosome; histone; chromatin; chromatin modifiers; targeting; DNA motifs; protein factors; MSL; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Background: In all higher organisms, the nuclear DNA is condensed into nucleosomes that consist of DNA wrapped around a core of highly conserved histone proteins. DNA bound to histones and other structural proteins form the chromatin. LÄS MER
