  1. 26. Minding the Body : Interacting socially through embodied action

    Författare :Jessica Lindblom; Tom Ziemke; Shaun Gallagher; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Embodiment; embodied cognition; embodied cognitive science; social interaction; social cognition; embodied action; interactive technology; Cognitive science; Kognitionsvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation clarifies the role and relevance of the body in social interaction and cognition from an embodied cognitive science perspective. Theories of embodied cognition have during the past two decades offered a radical shift in explanations of the human mind, from traditional computationalism which considers cognition in terms of internal symbolic representations and computational processes, to emphasizing the way cognition is shaped by the body and its sensorimotor interaction with the surrounding social and material world. 2. 27. Conceptual metaphors in learning and teaching entropy : adopting a cognitive semantic approach in science education research

    Författare :Fredrik Jeppsson; Helge Strömdahl; Tamer Amin; Roland Kjellander; David Hammer; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Science education; thermodynamics; semantics; conceptual metaphors; Naturvetenskapernas didaktik; termodynamik; entropi; semantik; begreppsliga metaforer;

    Sammanfattning : Over the last 20 years there has been an extensive amount of research on science learning conducted from a “knowledge-in-pieces” or “resources” perspective. One of the main goals of that research has been to identify and characterize available cognitive knowledge resources that can be productive components of scientific understanding. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Depression is the most burdensome disorder worldwide in terms of health loss. The potential of internet and technologies to scale up psychological treatment resources is substantial. LÄS MER

  4. 29. Studies in the Dynamics of Science : Exploring emergence, classification, and interdisciplinarity

    Författare :Qi Wang; Ulf Sandström; Martin Meyer; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; science dynamics; bibliometrics; emerging research topics; interdisciplinary research; journal classification systems; cognitive distance; research policy;

    Sammanfattning : The dynamic nature of science is embodied in the growth of knowledge in magnitude and the transformation of knowledge in structure. More specifically, the growth in magnitude is indicated by a sharp increase in the number of scientific publications in recent decades. LÄS MER

  5. 30. Reasoning with Bounded Cognitive Resources

    Författare :Abdul Rahim Nizamani; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Artificial general intelligence; logical reasoning; inductive learning; proof systems; bounded cognitive resources; cognitive modeling;

    Sammanfattning : Reasoning is an essential element of intelligence. Automated reasoning in formal and symbolic systems is a major topic in computer science and artificial intelligence (AI). Programs for computer-assisted and automated theorem proving are being constructed and used by mathematicians and logicians. LÄS MER
