16. Streptococcus pyogenes and its interactions with the human host
Sammanfattning : We have found that a set of group A streptococcal strains, primarily associated with skin infections, express surface-associated M proteins that bind plasminogen and plasmin with high affinity. The binding is mediated by a common 13 amino acid internal repeated sequence located in the NH2-terminal surface-exposed portion of these M proteins. LÄS MER
17. Efficient synchronization and coherence for nonuniform communication architectures
Sammanfattning : Nonuniformity is a common characteristic of contemporary computer systems, mainly because of physical distances in computer designs. In large multiprocessors, the access to shared memory is often nonuniform, and may vary as much as ten times for some nonuniform memory access (NUMA) architectures, depending on if the memory is close to the requesting processor or not. 18. On computational homogenization of gradient crystal inelasticity
Sammanfattning : Crystal inelasticity is the main modeling technique employed to study the mechanical behavior of polycrystalline metallic materials. This class of models has the capability to represent micromechanical phenomena such as plastic slip, grain boundary interactions, and dislocation pile-up. LÄS MER
19. Coiled coil Cytoskeleton in Bacterial Cell Architecture : Studies of Growth and Development in Streptomyces
Sammanfattning : Bacterial cytoskeleton is an exciting and relatively new field of research. Recent findings have proven that microbes are well-organized and neatly structured organisms. LÄS MER
20. Mechanisms of phagocytosis resistance in Streptococcus pyogenes
Sammanfattning : A distinguishing feature of Streptococcus pyogenes (GAS) is their ability to resist phagocytosis in whole human blood in the absence of type-specific antibodies, a property that is dependent on the expression of the surface associated M proteins. A common characteristic of M proteins is their interaction with a variety of host proteins including the complement regulatory protein factor H (FH) and fibrinogen that plays a key role in coagulation.
