For this reason, and because the mechanisms of PM toxicity are not fully known, there is an urgent need to determine the chemical constituents of atmospheric PM, especially PM emanating from traffic - a major source of urban PM.     Sammanfattning : When food is heated, a vast number of compounds are formed. Some of these are known to be toxic. Among these are furan, HMF, PhIP, IQ, and MeIQx, the subjects of this thesis.     Sammanfattning : Hemoglobin is a useful in vivo dosimeter for electrophilic compounds that react with nucleophilic sites in macromolecules and form covalently bound adducts. With the purpose of increasing the sensitivity of analysis of haemoglobin adducts, a method was developed for enriching adducted globin chains based on ion-exchange chromatography. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Recombination results in rearrangement of the genetic material contained in the chromosomes inherited from the mother and father and this process is also involved in repairing damage to the genome. Occasionally, the machinery that performs recombination malfunctions and this may lead to illegitimate recombination events which inactivate tumor suppressor genes or activate protooncogenes.
