  1. 1. Broadening Horizons : The FMECA-NETEP model, offshore wind farms and the permit application process

    Författare :John Ohlson; Bo Carlsson; Håkan Thorstensson; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cumulative impact; risk; offshore wind farm OWF ; FMECA; kumulativa effekter; risk; havsbaserad vindkraft; Miljövetenskap; Environmental Science;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract  The permit application process for offshore wind farms (OWF) in Sweden conceivably requires a comprehensive and transparent complement within risk management. The NETEP framework (covering risks concerning navigation, economics, technology, environment and politics), based on a futures planning mechanism (STEEP) has consequently been brought forward as a structure for the application of FMECA (Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analysis) methodology to the permit application process of the Swedish offshore wind farm sector. 2. 2. Separation of Proteins with Capillary Electrophoresis in Coated Capillaries with and without Electroosmosis : Studies on Zone Broadening and Analytical Performances

    Författare :Sheila Mohabbati; Douglas Westerlund; Bo Karlberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Pharmaceutical chemistry; Capillary electrophoresis; capillary coatings; proteins; zone broadening; zone sharpening; efficiency; resolution; protein-surface adsorption; protein-buffer interaction; analytical performance; Farmaceutisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Proteins have such structural features that they may interact with different types of surfaces by all possible forces, i.e., electrostatic, hydrogen bonding, hydrophobic. In this thesis two different types of coatings for fused silica capillaries aimed to eliminate such interactions have been studied. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Tunneling through Nanostructures - Interactions, Interference and Broadening

    Författare :Jonas Pedersen; Matematisk fysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quantum transport; Quantum dots; Coulomb blackade; Nanoscience;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, quantum transport through nanostructures is addressed theoretically by considering simplified model systems representing the most important features of quantum dots or molecules. The generic model consists of a central region coupled to noninteracting leads. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Lineshape in Quantum Cascade Lasers - Temperature, Screening and Broadening

    Författare :Rikard Nelander; Matematisk fysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quantum Cascade Lasers; quantum wells; spectral lineshape; Non-Equilibrium Green s Functions; screening; temperature dependence;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation deals with the optical properties of Quantum Cascade Lasers (QCLs). Studies are performed using transport calculations employing the theory of Non-Equilibrium Green's Functions, and screening is studied within the Random Phase Approximation. Focus is put on the temperature dependent effects in THz QCLs. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Influence of Global Composition and Local Environment on the Spectroscopic and Magnetic Properties of Metallic Alloys

    Författare :Weine Olovsson; Igor A. Abrikosov; G. Malcolm Stocks; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; core level shift; random alloy; first principles simulations; density functional theory; auger kinetic energy; Invar alloys; exchange parameter; classical Heisenberg Hamiltonian; complete screening; transition state; disorder broadening; Fysik; Physics; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Theoretical investigations of spectroscopic and magnetic properties of metallic systems in the bulk, as well as in nanostructured materials, have been performed within the density functional theory. The major part of the present work studies the differences between binding energies of electrons tightly bound to the atoms, the so-called core electrons (in contrast with the valence electrons), that is, core-level binding energy shift (CLS).
